Disney World is no stranger to menu changes but this latest one really surprised us.
Just within the past few months, Disney World has made TONS of changes to menus all over their parks and hotels, but now it seems like the latest change has affected even one of the NEWEST restaurants. We heard a few popular side items were MISSING from a popular restaurant so we set out to investigate!
One of the latest restaurants to hit Disney’s Hollywood Studios is already experiencing a menu change! It hasn’t quite been a full year yet since Roundup Rodeo BBQ opened inside Toy Story Land and quickly became a popular option for their moderately priced family-style dining and MANY sides.
When this restaurant first opened, you were able to order 4 sides of your choosing from their menu of 8 options, however, since this meal was served family style, you could change out a side if you didn’t like it the first time around (or just wanted to try something different!)
Now, that menu has shrunk a bit down to 5 total sides that are brought out to your table all at the same time. Now, your side options are only The Claw! Veggie Slaw, Cowpoke Corn on the Cob, Potato Barrels, Buckin’ Baked Beans, and Slinky Doooooooooog Mac & Cheese. This means the Mean Ole Potato Salad, The Married Spuds (loaded potato barrels), and Force Field Fried Pickels have officially been cut from the restaurant’s menu.
The Cast Member we spoke with about the change said it’s a lot easier on the kitchen now and makes things less complicated for them and their visitors. They also mentioned the change is planned to be permanent as of now.
Will you miss the sides that were nixed from the menu? Did any that you were hoping to try not survive the change? Will this change keep you from trying out this newer restaurant? Be sure to stay tuned with us at Disney Food Blog for the latest in Disney menu changes and updates!

I went with my 8-yr old during Christmas week and it was more food than we could eat. Ny daughter has special needs and unfortunately the restaurant was not a good fit for us. They do not allow take home bags so we wasted almost the entire meal. We had to leave abruptly because she was having really bad anxiety. What I tasted of the meat was pretty good but the mac and cheese lacked flavor. The biscuits and jam were delicious!!! I wish I could’ve taken those to go. Another downside was we could barely fit everything on our small table for 2. The waitress was excellent and very accommodating.

Bummer! Those all sound like things we would have wanted to try, especially the fried pickles!!

I’m totally fine with the items they removed.
They probably noticed that alot was being thrown away.
Sandra G says
Shame about the potato salad, which to me is a natural side with any style of barbecue.
Wendy Snelgrove says
They also took out the veggies. The potato barrels were just changed to plain from loaded. Wish the veggies remained.
Jacqueline says
Not the fried pickles 😩

Can you still order more of the ones you do want for eg more potatoe barrels beans etc?? Or do you get the 5 and that’s it?

How does the All-you-can-eat aspect work?
I understand that you are limited to 1 desert each.
Is there anything else that is limited to 1 serving? Biscuits and jelly perhaps?
If we ordered the meat platter. What happens when we want more? Do we ask for specific meat items that we want, or do they bring the same full selection?
Are sides also limitless?
brandon says
You just ask the server to bring more.
And when we were there, the waitress told us we could try all of the Desserts. Just ask.

Bummer. I was looking forward to some refreshing watermelon salad with all that rich sauced meat. I also agree with those who say potato salad needs to be on the menu with barbecue. Tristienne, I understand about having a lot of food left and no takeout containers. All you can eat places often decline to offer them as people will order more than they can eat just to take another meal with them. I always bring either silicone or plastic zip top bags to meals in case we have a ton of something portable left, like rolls or in our case, usually my autistic son’s green beans (nothing that might spoil in the hour or so going back to our resort). I stash them in the cooler in our room, then heat them up to round out a food court meal.

We loved the fried pickles! I’m so sad they are gone. It was something different the other restaurants didn’t have.

We loved the experience, but with very few exceptions, we were underwhelmed by the food, and we’re not picky or fancy eaters. It was also hard for us to find room on the table for all the food. If we try it again, maybe next tine we will try to ask for only the items that we think we will like. We didn’t ask for seconds of anything, and we still got side-eye packing up just some our leftovers in the ziplocks and containers we brought. And a lot of food was still left behind and wasted because we didn’t care for it or there was just more than we knew we would eat. It was really fun to do once, but unless we’re just itching for the experience again, or they add characters, or maybe if there’s abreakfast option, I don’t see us going back anytime soon.

Re: NaturalDisasterGirl
I’m glad to see I’m not the o.ly one bringing Ziplock bags to pack up the leftovers.
And those other people can side eye all they want. I’ve found they are more jealous that they didn’t think of it more than that they thi.k they are better than me. Many times I’ve had people as were walking out complimenting me on the idea after side eyeing me inside. More so that they just didn’t want to stair.
Hey I paid good money for that food and I’ll be gosh darned if I’m throwing ant of it away.
