Disney’s BoardWalk is getting some BIG changes these days!
The rooms are getting complete makeovers, but there are also some new dining locations under construction with The Cake Bake Shop and Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs coming soon. However, even though several new things are coming soon…this week we had to say goodbye to one restaurant!
A few days ago, it was announced that Big River Grille & Brewing Works was closing permanently at Disney’s BoardWalk. This third-party table service restaurant offered sports bar-style eats and a variety of beers.
The restaurant officially closed at the end of the day on January 21st, and we stopped by the following day to check out the old home of the restaurant. Overnight, the sign was completely removed and the windows were blacked out.
There are still several tables outside the restaurant on either side of the blank awning. It’s a great spot to sit and relax — during the daytime, this end of the BoardWalk is pretty quiet.
We’ll be interested to see if Disney replaces this restaurant with something new. The space isn’t particularly large, but it could easily fit a different table service option or even a quick service restaurant. We’ll be on the lookout for more news!

It can only go up from here. That was truly a rock bottom WDW dining experience with absolutely nothing being note-worthy other than how unremarkable it was. I’m stunned it survived as long as it did. This should definitely be a change for the best.
