Happy Lunar New Year, everyone!
We’ve been celebrating the occasion over at Disney California Adventure’s Lunar New Year Festival. We enjoyed a ton of wonderful foods and even met some NEW Disney characters for the very first time. We also love to see how the parks are decorated for the festival, but this year, one hotel at Disneyland Resort has gone ALL out for the Lunar New Year — and we are OBSESSED.
If you’ve ever visited Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, you might already know this hotel is BEAUTIFUL. But when we recently visited, we saw it had been decorated for the Lunar New Year. The first thing you’ll want to do when visiting this hotel’s lobby is to look up because a GIANT dragon kite is hanging from the ceiling –it spans 80 feet long!
According to Disney, the dragon kite features a custom design inspired by blossoms to symbolize the rebirth of spring. Dragons are very important this year (yes, even Mushu) because this year is the Year of the Dragon. We think this dragon is pretty amazing!
If you’re staying at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa in Disneyland soon, don’t forget to look UP! They’re celebrating the Year of the Dragon with this Lunar New Year Dragon! 🐲🐉 pic.twitter.com/yAWpBjI9yA

Each doll has a description explaining her outfit and why she’s wearing it.
You’ll also find a gorgeous new backdrop in the lobby. Did someone say PHOTO OP?
Be sure to take time to read all the details about the Chinese New Year, including how various cultures celebrate the holiday. It’s quite fascinating. See? Disney can be fun AND educational (but we already knew that, right?😉 ).
The Grand Californian is also hosting some entertainment for the festival, so keep an eye on the schedule for a list of performances. Oh, and you can also enjoy some themed treats at the Great Hall Cart in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel. Look out for a Moon Dragon cocktail, available at GCH Craftsman Bar. Be sure to stop by if you have a chance to enjoy these pretty decorations and any entertainment going on. The Lunar New Year Festival runs through February 18th.
