Universal Orlando blew a lot of minds when it recently released new details about its upcoming third park, Epic Universe.
The new park will have a total of five new themed lands with five new restaurants and a TON of new rides. One of the new lands is an original concept called Celestial Park, which will act as the central hub that leads to the other four lands. This area will also feature two new rides, including a roller coaster called Starfall Racers. Well, Universal also teased that there would be a fun easter egg on that coaster!
Starfall Racers is a dual-launch roller coaster with two vehicles that will launch at the same time and race each other. It will reach speeds of up to 62 miles per hour and will have a track that will reach up to 133 feet high. The ride vehicles are designed to look like comets and will “race along an inverted crisscross, known as the ‘Celestial Spin’ in a dazzling display of blazing colors and ethereal music.” Sounds thrilling, right?
Universal also teased a special “gift” on the back of each coaster vehicle that’s “Truly outatime!” That sounds a lot like a reference to the license plate on the DeLorean in Back to the Future (and there even used to be a Back to the Future ride at Universal Studios Orlando).
Universal’s announcement just said, “And although I can’t give this easter egg away just yet, just know that there’s a gift for true Universal fans on the back of each coaster vehicle. Truly outatime!” It sounds like the ride vehicles might have Back to the Future-themed license plates, but we’ll have to wait and see for sure!
Starfall Racers is a HUGE roller coaster with a 1.8-mile track designed to feel like a wooden coaster, but with a smoother ride. You’ll want to ride it at night when it’s covered with “hundreds of points of light,” which will make it really feel like you’re riding a comet through space.
We’re looking forward to learning more about Epic Universe, as well as looking toward its opening in 2025 — yep, we’ve still got a WHOLE year to wait. But so far, everything about Epic Universe is…well…EPIC!
