A LOT is going on in Disney World right now.
We’ve watched Splash Mountain slowly transform into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which will open THIS SUMMER. We’ve been checking out the progress of The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers and Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, too. Well, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is also busy with construction in the form of brand-new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) villas, and we’ve got a HUGE update to share with you.
The last time we checked in, we noticed a new structure taking shape on the construction site. A Cast Member informed us that the gazebo-shaped structure may be a restaurant, and the space between the buildings would likely be a new pool. While we expect both those things to be added to this area, Disney has not confirmed it yet. The level of digging here, though, does suggest that this could be a pool area. There are also two smaller structures on site now (in the forefront of the photo).
Here’s a closer look at the gazebo structure that may be a new restaurant (or possibly a pool bar?).
The main structure pretty much has all its windows in place now, too. We can now see how the rooms will have balconies.
Now, we know that Disney uses a modular structure for rooms, which means that the rooms are built separately off-site and then fitted into the building, and it seems like that could be what’s happening here.
The biggest update, though, is that Disney has started painting the building! We can see that some tannish brown paint has been added to sections of the building.
The new villas are set to open later this year, but it’s been interesting watching the whole project come together. There’s still a lot of work to be done, though.
Note that if you do plan on staying at the Polynesian Village Resort, you may hear sounds of construction during the day, so keep that in mind.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on the construction at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
