We have some news coming from Carnival Cruise Line!
We’ve been hearing a lot of big news from Carnival this year! Recently, they announced their newest destination, Celebration Key. NOW, they have announced a BRAND-NEW cruise ship will soon be added to their (already large) fleet!
If you’re a fan of Carnival Cruise Line, it is time to celebrate! The company has officially placed an order to have a new ship built, which should be ready for its first voyage in Spring 2027, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
This ship is a part of the Excel Class — which means it is a ship that runs on liquefied natural gas (LNG). This makes cruising more environmentally friendly, and we’re glad that Carnival is adding to this lineup! Their LNG line of ships has been proven to be very popular, with the Mardi Gras and Jubilee ships being the premier ships in their lineup.
The new ship’s name has not been announced just yet. However, we know that it will have room for about 6,400 guests and will weigh about 180,000 tons.
Carnival hasn’t released much information about this ship yet, but we’re excited to hear more about it! We’ll keep you in the loop as we learn more, so keep checking in with us at DFB for the latest!

I just recently gave Carnival another try, I cruise on their Carnival Legend out of Baltimore, MD on Feb. 18, 2024 and I was left disappointed. I stayed in a suite and realized from the start that there was no turn-down service. When I called guest services they informed me that turn-down service has been discontinued, even for suites. The windows around the ship and in my suite needed to be cleaned, they had streaks of brown dirt – something I never experienced on a Disney, Norwegian or even a Royal Caribbean Cruise; but the windows of the Steak House were clean, which was nice and the food at the Steakhouse was good too. The entertainment on the ship was lacking but what they had was ok, except the main theater show performances were not so good. A major issue occurred during our cruise, engine trouble. The ship was not able to reach the speed it needed and suffered engine failure, requiring our departure to be delayed by a day. We returned a day later than scheduled, which was great for the kids on the ship but for the adults that needed to return to work, or catch a flight or both, that was a problem. Carnival offered some minor assistance with airline fees to reschedule flights but made no offer to compensate cruisers for missed pay from work. Carnival didn’t even offer a discount on a future cruise or cruise credit on a future cruise to minimize loosing pay from work. Carnival has a poor rating for customer care. I plan to stick with Disney and Norwegian Cruise Line. It is true when they say, you get what you pay for. Cruisers be wary.
