If you’re hungry, you have been WARNED. Seriously, reading this post while having a rumbly in your tumbly may be dangerous and cause you to book a trip to Disneyland ASAP. Still willing to read on? Okay, then, let’s get into the delicious details!
The 2024 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival has officially begun at Disneyland Resort, and there are LOTS of things to do. From now through April 22nd, you can devour some tasty eats and drinks, check out unique entertainment, and more. Wondering just what you can eat at the California Craft Brews, booth? Well, we’ve checked it out and are now sharing our FULL thoughts.
Menu
Over at the California Craft Brews, you’ll find a variety of available items. If you’re in the mood for an ice, cold brew (or two, or… seven…) and a fun twist on some comfort food, then this is your booth.
Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself!
Eats
First up, we grabbed the Cheeseburger Bao for $8.50. This is a new item for this booth this year. The Cheeseburger Bao comes with Thousand Island dressing, grilled onions, pickle, and tomato relish. We were super excited to see this menu item because we LOVE the Cheeseburger Pods at Satu’li Canteen in Disney World, and this is giving us some strong Cheeseburger Pod vibes, so does it measure up?
This cheeseburger pod is essentially a Big Mac in a bao bun, and that’s what we love about it! We really enjoyed the grilled onions inside which added great flavor. The bun is thick, but light in taste. If you love a good Big Mac, you’ll really enjoy this cheeseburger bao.
Next in the munchie category at this booth is the S’mores Caramel Tart for $7.00. This is another new item for this booth this year. The S’mores Caramel Tart is a graham cracker tart shell filled with caramel and chocolate ganache topped with a toasted marshmallow.
The chocolate in this s’more tart is rich and heavy. Tasting a traditional s’more treat in this tart was our favorite part about it. All the flavors of the chocolate, marshmallow, and graham cracker work very well together. You might think that the mousse will be flavorless because it has a light color, but don’t let it fool you — it’s full of flavor! While it was all really good, we thought the caramel was honestly unnecessary and not needed.
And now that’s we’ve filled our bellies with cheesy, chocolatey goodness, it’s time to get our drink on!
Drinks
This booth is all about the brews — there are twelve in total! And if you can’t decide which one (or several) you want to try, Grab a flight! This booth offers 3 different beer flights for a little taste of everything.
First up is the Cal-IPA Beer Flight for $18.50. This flight is comprised of the Crowns and Hops Brewing Co. Inglewood Sun, West Coast IPA, Unsung Brewing Co. Intracore IPA, Russian River Brewing Co. Blind Pig IPA, and the Stone Brewery Ruination Double IPA.
Our impression of this flight was, sadly, not great. We thought the Crowns and Hops Brewing Inglewood Sun was very good, but that was the only one we would recommend unless you drink IPAs regularly. The Inglewood Sun was very floral with a subtle fruity aftertaste. We also noticed hints of pine. We were quite impressed with it. The others, however, didn’t go down as smoothly.
Next up is the Spring Favorites Beer Flight for $18.50. This flight is comprised of the Bottle Logic Brewing Watermelon Lemonade Seltzer, Full Circle Brewing Co. Peachy Vibes Wheat Ale, Mission Brewing Foggy Shores Hefeweizen, and the Eagle Rock Brewery Golden Ale.
The Spring Favorites Flight was our favorite flight at this booth! It was the lightest and most refreshing flight of drinks with the seltzers and ales. It also had the most diverse flavors. If you’re a beer drinker who doesn’t like the traditional taste of beer, then you’ll likely enjoy this flight.
The last flight of this round-up is the West Coast Beer Flight for $18.50. This flight is comprised of the Brewery X Baja Boi Mexican Lager with Salt and Lime Left Coast Brewing, Del Mar St. Dortmunder Style Export Lager, Delahunt Brewing Co, Salvatore Italian Pilsner, and the La Bodega Brewing Co. Pay the Piper Double IPA.
If you’re planning to enjoy a flight with someone who has the opposite taste for beer than you, this is the flight you might want to opt for. Two of the beers are lighter and less hoppy (Brewery X Baja Boi Mexican Lager with Salt and Lime Left Coast Brewing and Del Mar St. Dortmunder Style Export Lager), while the other two are far hoppier and more bitter (Delahunt Brewing Co Salvatore Italian Pilsner and the La Bodega Brewing Co. Pay the Piper Double IPA).
And if you’re looking for something a bit more fruit and sweet, this booth has you covered, too. New this year is the Frozen Mangonada Beer Slush for $18. This fun slush is made with Brewery X Baja Boi, mango purée, rock melon syrup, grapefruit juice, and mango-chamoy glaze.
This bad boy is BIG. It might be your best bang for your buck at this booth. It is a refreshing play on a true mangonada. The beer flavor is hidden by the mango and chamoy, and overall the flavors are well-balanced. It would be a great pick for a hot day!
OVERALL
If you’re a fan of trying new beers, then this could be a must-stop booth for you! We had some hits and misses here, but since beer preferences vary so much, it might be worth stopping by to give one of the flights a try. And Big Mac and s’mores fans will surely want to visit Craft Brews.
That’s it for this booth, but there’s a LOT more where that came from!
