Disney’s recent joint venture with two other media companies may have landed them in hot water.
We recently discovered that Disney announced a HUGE partnership merger deal with Fox, ESPN, and Warner Bros. Discovery! We had also reported that this merger may violate Federal Law, but now there’s a new discovery that could further muddy the waters.
FuboTV, the sports streaming service, is set to sue Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery over this recently announced joint venture, per CNBC.
The lawsuit details that this merger is a complete market suppression, meaning that the merger is almost engulfing the available market in an unfair way. FuboTV’s lawsuit also names both ESPN and Hulu as defendants, making sense since they are owned by Disney.
According to the lawsuit, this merger completely undercuts the market by allowing the services to work around what channels they have to carry, avoid certain price requirements, and ultimately gives them more of a competitive edge which ices out the other competitors.
We’ll keep you updated as this lawsuit progresses, as it’s quite interesting this is another news story to have come out from the merger announcement. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more as it happens.
