Are you ready for all the changes coming to the Disneyland Resort?
The possible Disneyland expansion known as DisneylandForward has been in progress since March 2021. During a recent Anaheim City Council meeting, developers went into more detail about what the expansion could feature, including what would be a popular new land!
DisneylandForward has evolved into a multi-year Disneyland and Anaheim Resort expansion and redesign. The proposed plan would put $1.9 billion over the next decade in an effort to expand the area’s lodging, retail, parking, dining options, and theme parks. The plan would eventually be in effect for 40 years and transform the resort into something bigger and better — a unified entertainment center.
Part of the expansion talks on Disney’s end was the idea that this plan would allow Disney to bring more innovative and immersive attractions to the parks. During the city council meeting, Disney referenced a few of its other lands overseas, such as Zootopia Land at Shanghai Disney Resort and World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland. Rapunzel’s Forest at Tokyo DisneySea was also mentioned by name, further adding fuel to the speculation that Tangled could be coming to Anaheim in a big way.
So where could Disney put a Tangled Land at the Disneyland Resort? With the aid of expansion, DisneylandForward proposes adding Tangled entertainment (similar to what will be available in Tokyo) to Disneyland Park. The proposal also suggests even more lands, attractions, and entertainment options coming to DCA with mentions of Zootopia, Toy Story Land, Tron, and Frozen.
If Tangled were to come over to Disneyland Park in the form of a brand new land or attractions, we have a reference to speculate what that entertainment could be. Tokyo DisneySea’s Fantasy Springs will be home to Rapunzel’s Forest, which houses Rapunzel’s Tower and Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival attraction. The ride follows Rapunzel and Flynn Rider on their romantic boat ride to the annual Lantern Festival. Rumored to last about five minutes, this water ride will also showcase other locations in and around Corona.
The Snuggly Duckling will also be coming in spring 2024. This movie-inspired restaurant will offer dining rooms with different atmospheres (perhaps something similar to Be Our Guest in Magic Kingdom). The Snuggly Duckling will be a counter-service option for guests.
If expansion is approved, it is very likely Tangled will come to the Disneyland Resort. Disney is banking on the Tangled intellectual property, as the Tangled land is already underway for Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea. With the infrastructure already in place for future Tangled expansions, it would make sense for Disney to continue the trend in Anaheim.

When all is said and done, I’m guessing the Pixar Place Hotel will eventually be removed and the entire expansion area will become a third gate not expansions of the other parks. The Disneyland Hotel will remain as an in-park hotel.
