When Florida Governor Ron DeSantis turned Disney World’s Reedy Creek Improvement District into the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, he appointed a new board of directors to oversee the land.

Since then, we’ve seen the board make some major decisions regarding the land where Disney World resides. There have been a few board member changes since the beginning, but now, the board will be getting a brand-new administrator.
Glen Gilzean was the former District Administrator for the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD), but DeSantis has now tapped Gilzean to step in as interim Orange County Supervisor of Elections. The position was vacated when the former Supervisor of Elections, Bill Cowles, retired on January 31st.

“I am committed to ensuring a seamless transition as I conclude my duties as the District Administrator and will continue to be available as a resource during the search for my replacement,” Gilzean said in a statement Friday.
But with Gilzean’s position empty on the board, the Orlando Sentinel reports that DeSantis has recommended Stephanie Kopelousos, a top adviser who most recently served on his campaign for president, to fill it. The CFTOD board will need to approve Kopelousos’s appointment before it’s official, but as the board members were appointed by DeSantis, the change is likely to pass.

“We are glad to see her step into this leadership role as the District embarks upon the next chapter in its efforts to ensure an even and transparent playing field for the businesses that operate in Central Florida,” said Bryan Griffin, communications director for the governor. Griffin noted that Kopelousos has “extensive state and local government experience” that would make her the ideal candidate for the job.
