Looking for the perfect escape?
Sailing with Disney Cruise Line might be just what you’re after! Where else can you get all the luxuries and amenities of a Disney World vacation while sailing your way to iconic destinations around the globe. If you’ve got an upcoming Disney cruise booked, we’ve got an important update that could impact your trip!
We have an important update for all you Disney cruisers out there! The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has designated areas in the North-West Mediterranean Sea as a Particular Sensitive Sea Area (PSSA). Because of this, the IMP is recommending ships reduce their speeds while passing through these areas to reduce the risk of collisions with whales and other animals. Think of the whales, people!!!
The restriction applies to the area located along the coastlines of France, Italy, Monaco, and Spain, so if you’re heading out on a Disney cruise in these areas soon, double-check that yours has not been impacted. Thanks to our friend Sue at Small World Vacations for letting us know about this change that will impact multiple itineraries on the Disney Dream.
Here’s a look at all the itineraries that have been modified because of this change:
- 7-Night Mediterranean Cruise from Barcelona departing May 25, 2024: The ship will visit Palermo, Italy in place of Villefranche, France and calls in Naples, Civitavecchia, and Livorno have been shifted by a day.
- 11-Night Mediterranean with Greek Isles Cruise from Civitavecchia (Rome) Ending in Barcelona departing June 24, 2024: The ship will visit Palma de Mallorca, Space in place of Naples, Italy, as well as swap the placement of the last day at sea.
- 7-Night Mediterranean Cruise from Barcelona departing July 5, 2024: The ship will visit Palermo, Italy in place of Cannes, France and calls in Naples, Civitavecchia, and Livorno have been shifted by a day.
- 5-Night Mediterranean Cruise from Barcelona departing July 12, 2024: The ship will have a Day at Sea instead of visiting Villefranche, France.
- 7-Night Western Europe Cruise from Barcelona ending in Southampton departing July 17, 2024: The ship will have a Day at Sea instead of visiting Cartagena, Spain.
If you’ve got a trip booked on one of these sailings, keep an eye out for an official email from Disney or your travel agent with more information on these changes.
