When you ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, have you ever noticed that mad dash to the right that ALWAYS happens? It’s like clockwork. Right after that “teleportation” bit in the preshow, bam! Everybody bolts to the right. But why? Let’s dive into this intriguing phenomenon.

Imagine that you’re all hyped up and ready for a wild ride through the cosmos with the Guardians. You just got “teleported”, but before you know it, you’re swept along with the crowd, all headed in the same direction — to the right.

Now, what’s behind this synchronized dash? Maybe it’s all about social proof. You know, that thing where we look to others for cues on what to do. If this is the reason, then it makes sense. It’s like, since everyone’s rushing to the right, that must be the way to go, right?

Well, you’re not exactly wrong. The layout of the queue does guide everyone to the right. However, it’s really all so much simpler than that. It’s human nature. It’s just your typical race for the coaster.

I work on the attraction & actually, everyone going to the right slows everything down. We have sensors everywhere & when everyone enters to the right in teleportation, we can’t close the doors. Slowing down the time before teleportation. If you set off an intrusion, which happens if you are in a doorway or too close to the walls, we have to clear the intrusion before teleportation takes place. As a cast member it’s maddening that people do this. I’ve literally told people to get inside the lighted ring & they say they can’t because there’s too many people, then go to the left!! It’s like talking to a 3 year old!
