Recently, we’ve talked a LOT about Disney World CROWDS.
With spring time typically comes denser crowds as the weather is pleasant and a lot of folks around the country are on spring break. On March 25th, we saw intense crowds at Magic Kingdom with sold out park reservations, Genie+, and Lightning Lane options (we’ll chat more about those in a sec) as well as THICK crowds. 😬 Before heading into the parks on March 26th, we didn’t feel that it would be much better.
Before we talk about it, let’s talk about Disney’s skip-the-line services! Each day, you can purchase Genie+ starting at midnight. You can purchase an individual park option for the park you’re visiting, OR if you’re planning to visit multiple parks with a Park Hopper ticket, you can snag the Multi-Park option. Genie+ allows you to book Lightning Lanes at available attractions all day long and it’s super helpful.
Individual Lightning Lanes (ILLs), on the other hand, are purchased for an individual attraction and can only be used once. They become available each day at 7AM. Plus, these are only available for five attractions throughout the parks: TRON Lightcycle / Run, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Avatar: Flight of Passage, and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
Well, on March 26th, each of these ILLs sold out within MINUTES of the park opening. Although all park reservations were still available, this let us know that the parks would still be BUSY. Plus, the Magic Kingdom, Multi-Park, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios Genie+ options were sold out by then as well. WOW.
Ahead of visiting the parks, it took upwards of 40 minutes to get on the Magic Kingdom Ferry Boat that takes you to the park. It’s usually a walk-on once the boat arrives. Yikes!
It’s another PACKED day at the TTC! 😮💨 Only one ferry is running this morning as well, leading Cast Members to estimate a 40 minute transit time between the TTC and Magic Kingdom…buses to the rescue!!! 🚌 pic.twitter.com/IKF7Ya1qsr

So…what do you do to avoid the long lines when the ILLs AND Genie+ are sold out? Well, rope dropping (getting there as soon as the park opens) can help, as can waiting to leave until the park closes, as the lines are typically shorter at both times of day. To avoid this entirely, we’d recommend purchasing Genie+ as soon as it becomes available at midnight, as a lot of folks wait until 7AM to buy it.
