If you live in the United States, especially the southeast, you’ve probably faced an age-old dilemma: to drive or not to drive to Disney World.
For many of us, driving is a no-brainer, especially if you’re from a state that borders Florida. However, depending on where you’re from, driving can be just as expensive as flying — but take WAY more time. If you’re in the group of folks that prefers to drive to Disney World, we just got an update on gas prices that you’ll want to hear.
The Orlando Sentinel reports that Florida gas prices have reached a new high for 2024.
According to AAA, gas prices reached $3.62 across the state. This is 11 cents more per gallon than Florida gas pumps saw this time last year. The springtime high for 2023, however, was $3.72, which we’re not too far from reaching.
West Palm Beach-Boca Raton ($3.77), Naples ($3.69) and Port St. Lucie ($3.65) have the highest prices, according to the Sentinel.
So…what does this mean for YOU? Well, if you’re a native Floridian, you’re probably already well aware of the increase in prices. However, if you’re from out of state, you can expect to pay slightly more for gas throughout your whole road trip.
According to AAA, national gas prices average in at $3.53 per gallon as of April 1st. This is 3 cents higher than last year’s average prices at the start of April, and 20 cents higher than a month ago.
So, it’s not just Florida boasting an increase in gas prices. If you’re planning to drive to Disney World this spring or summer, make sure to budget just a few dollars extra for gas. Those pennies really DO add up! Plus, don’t forget that once you arrive to Disney World, you can drive yourself around or opt to take Disney’s free transportation services.
