Disney World is going to keep on changing, right?
The only constant is change, right? We can definitely see that with all the new additions like TRON Lightcycle / Run and other construction projects throughout the parks and over the years. But sometimes those changes hurt. They feel pretty egregious. To that point, we wanted to get your thoughts on which Disney World changes you found to be particularly unforgivable. We asked and boy, did you deliver!
We reached out to our followers on Facebook to ask: “Which Disney World changes do you think are UNFORGIVABLE?” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments!
Now, let’s dive into the top three responses! (Pay no mind to the order, okay?)
Genie+ instead of FastPasses
I know we just said not to mind the order of these, however, it appears that the majority of you expressed that getting rid of FastPasses in favor of Genie+ was BY FAR the MOST unforgivable change that Disney has made.
Let’s have a peek at some of your top responses:
- “Taking away Fast Passes and making us pay for Genie+.”
- “doing away with free fast passes. I used to tell people that Disney treated all ticketholders equally, unlike Universal, so I had just as much chance for a FP as a rich person. No more, sadly.”
- “Genie Plus honestly. They broke so much trust with that specific nickel-and-dime attempt that I just don’t know how I will ever see the company the same. I always knew it was a business, but that was the first time I felt like nothing more than a number to Disney instead of a guest.”
It seems that many of you don’t like paying for something that was once free — and it’s hard to argue that that is a positive change.
Here’s our guide to Disney Genie+!
Getting rid of the Magical Express
We definitely expected to see this next one on the list. The Magical Express provided free transportation from Orlando Airport to Disney resorts — AND you didn’t have to go to baggage claim to get your luggage at the airpot. It was “magically” delivered to your hotel.
To that point, take a look at some of your top responses:
- “I miss the Magical Express transfers and the ability to have purchases sent to your resort.”
- “Ending the Magical Express. That is unforgivable. It was totally a Disney vacation when you got off the plane right onto the bus. Cartoons and Trivia. You felt special. You didn’t need to rent a car, because staying in the Disney bubble, all Disney Transportation is provided. The sad little envelope on your door reminded you about the pickup time to go back to the airport, at least you still had Disney Magic, right up to the airport. It just made you want to book another trip while on the bus back to the airport. I know all the alternatives and their costs. It’s just not the same.”
The main point is that it was incredibly convenient. It also made you feel incredibly cared for and valued as a guest at Disney World.
Here’s a look at the paid bus transportation that replace the Magical Express.
The Great Movie Ride
Onto our last on this particular list. This one definitely hurt. Sometimes rides feel like cult classics, but this one was just beloved. Sure the Great Movie Ride was showing its age, but we loved it for all it was.
Here’s a look at some of your top responses:
- “I miss the Great Movie Ride!”
- “Removing The Great Movie Ride! It was the best. I was so sad to see it go.”
- “The Great Movie Ride closure. Runaway Railway could have been built anywhere, but the great movie ride was a unique and iconic experience.”
To the point from the last one, Runaway Railway is a fine and fun ride, but it literally could have been built ANYWHERE ELSE. In fact, they could have given it a glittery brand-new building instead of getting rid of this gem. Until someone creates a time machine for us, we’ll have to visit this one in our dreams.
Those were just some of your thoughts on the unforgivable changes that Disney made, and we’d love to find out more from you! Until then, keep it right here for all the latest Disney news!

And Illuminations

I miss the 180-day ADR window. We’re planners and like to plan and reserve far in advance. With the 60-day ADR window, we are often shut out of the dining places we enjoy.

Fast passes and magical express. You should add package delivery to your hotel. However, it’s saved me hundreds of dollars because I refuse to carry packages around the parks.

And wasting all that money building the Star Wars hotel instead of updating and revamping the Imagination pavilion.

Yes ! Illuminations was a classic that we never got tired of seeing. Closed out the night beautifully!! Disappointed ! Also agree with the other 3 choices !!

I don’t replacing FastPasses with Genie +, and I miss Magical Express. I don’t mind virtual queues so much.
