The Brightline train station at Orlando International Airport (MCO) has been a huge hit since its opening in 2023.
The new rail service makes it much easier for travelers to fly into Orlando and travel to Miami (or vice versa), instead of having to rent a car. However, if you’re looking to cruise out of Fort Lauderdale, this new route may be perfect for you!
Today, Princess Cruises and Brightline have unveiled their new partnership, which will take Princess Cruisers directly to Fort Lauderdale to board their cruise! The best part? For $35 a bag, your bag will be put on the train and then immediately taken to your stateroom when it arrives at the Fort Lauderdale station!
If you think this sounds very similar to Disney’s now extinct Magical Express service, you’re not wrong. John Padgett is the current President of Princess Cruises and is a former Disney executive who was very heavily involved in the creation of Disney’s Magical Express service.
Princess will begin sailing out of Port Canaveral in November, and a similar service will be available for South Florida residents who want to take Brightline north to the Orlando station and then board a Princess Cruise. Plus, Brightline also recently announced a new station coming to Cocoa, Florida, which will make travel to Port Canaveral more convenient.
Princess also announced a special deal today too — any guest who books a Princess Cruise before May 5th will get up to a $150 credit if you book a Florida voyage, which could cover the cost of your Brightline ticket!
This is VERY exciting for cruisers, and we’d love to see more services like this in the future for more cruise lines (we’re looking at you, Disney!). We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the latest news, so stay tuned to DFB!

We do this because it’s important to us as journalists to ensure not only that we give you unbiased opinions, but also that you can trust us to do so since we’re paying our own way. On rare occasions, when we are invited by a company to attend a preview as media, and when we choose to accept that invitation, we will always make you, our readers, aware of that situation. Today, we were invited by Brightline to attend their preview of the new trains. Note that when we attend events as media we are 1) Not required to review that event/food on any of our channels, and 2) Not required to review that event/food favorably. You can always count on DFB to give you a 100% unbiased and honest review of any event that we attend, food that we eat, or beverage that we drink. You can see more in our Disclosure Policy.
