Gideon’s Bakehouse became a near overnight sensation when the gourmet cookie company opened their first outlet in 2016. Within weeks of opening in Orlando’s East End Market, Gideon’s was featured in publications ranging from New York Times to The Boston Globe, to Sports Illustrated. The chain opened up a flagship location at Disney Springs four years later in 2020, and has remained one of the property’s moist in-demand snack offerings since.
In fact, Gideon’s cookies are in such demand at the Disney Springs location that the company has a strict limit of 7 cookies per paying customer (so no, not every member of your party can get 7 cookies unless you each pay separately).

So, why does Gideon’s have such a strict cookie limit? According to the company themselves:
“It’s not so much a matter of production (though our Cookies are genuinely handmade and very labor-intensive) but rather a matter of storage. Our locations can only store so many Cookies per day, and the limit helps us control and balance our hourly output. Despite our Cookies being almost 1/2 pound each, you’d be surprised how many people come in wanting 50+ Cookies for their meetings, parties, etc. We want to make sure as many people as possible each day get to try our desserts. The limit is our way of being equal and fair to all.”

So there you have it, the answer straight from the horse’s mouth. If you really need more than 7 Gideon’s cookies, we’d suggest planning a trip to Gideon’s original location at East End Market — you can pre-order larger quantities of cookies there (you need to do this 72 hours in advance). And bonus tip — you can order whole cakes or a giant cookie, too!
