It’s happening, y’all! It’s finally happening!
We’ve waited for what seems like FOREVER for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to open at Disney World, and now, we’re ALMOST THERE. In June 2020, Disney announced that the water-based ride Splash Mountain would close to be rethemed into an attraction inspired by the Disney animated film, The Princess and the Frog. Disney has shared that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will pick up the story of The Princess and the Frog “after the final kiss, and join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure – featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance.”
Sounds fun, right? Yes, so you can imagine how EXCITED we’ve all been about getting an official opening date. Previously, the ride was supposed to open in Fall 2024, but Disney shared earlier this year that it would open EARLIER — in the summer! Now, we have new updates! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will officially open to all visitors on June 28th, 2024!
This is SUPER exciting, but the good news doesn’t end there. Disney also announced that Annual Passholder previews for the ride will be taking place on June 13, 14, 16, 17, 18, and 20! There are some important details you need to know about these previews, so let’s get into the nitty-gritty.
Annual Passholders will need to make a park reservation at Magic Kingdom on one of the preview dates to have the opportunity to join the 7AM virtual queue — or, make a park reservation at any of the parks to have the opportunity to join the 1PM virtual queue.
On the date of your reservation, request to join the queue by using the My Disney Experience app like you would with TRON or Cosmic Rewind. There will be two opportunities to join each day of previews.
The 7AM virtual queue will be available to passholders with Magic Kingdom park reservations for the day, while the 1PM virtual queue will be available to passholders with reservations to any park that day. In either case, you must have a valid park reservation to one of the theme parks in order to join either of the virtual queues.
Passholders can also request to join a virtual queue no more than once per day, but, you will be able to hold virtual queues for previews of Tiana’s and TRON or Cosmic Rewind — if you’re lucky enough to snag both! Remember, passholders will need to enter the park in which they have a valid reservation first before going to Magic Kingdom — except for on June 13, 14, 17, 18, or 20 after 2PM.
Also, keep in mind that requesting to join a virtual queue does not guarantee you a spot or preview of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure!
So, to recap:
- Annual Passholder previews will take place on June 13, 14, 16, 17, 18, and 20.
- Passholders will need a park reservation at Magic Kingdom to join the 7AM queue, or a park reservation at any other park to join the 1PM queue.
- Passholders will be able to hold a virtual queue boarding group for both Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and TRON or Cosmic Rewind if you can snag both.
- On June 13, 14, 17, 18, or 20 after 2PM, passholders will not need to enter the park they have a reservation for before going to Magic Kingdom if they’ve secured a spot during the 1PM drop.
- Requesting to join the virtual queue does not guarantee you a preview spot.
When Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens in Magic Kingdom, you’ll be able to ride using a virtual queue — read all about that here! But, Tiana’s will also be available with Genie+, which you can read more about here.
YAY! It’s finally happening! We will finally be able to see this brand-new ride! Y’all start getting your ducks in a row so that y’all can be in Disney World when the previews take place.

Looking forward to hearing about the enhancements to the attraction and praying I will be amazed and not disappointed. Test Track took a giant leap backward, as have so many before.

I’m looking forward to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure’s opening. But I feel it’s being over hyped. It is exactly the same ride, but re-timed. The way they are promoting it, you’d think it was a brand new state of the art ride. This reminds of when they re-themed California Screamin to Incredecoaster at Disney’s California’s Adventure. It is the same ride with a different paint job. Eitherway, I’m sure I will enjoy the new theme for the ride.
