As someone who visits Disney World multiple times a week, one of my favorite activities might SURPRISE you.
I spend a lot of time in the theme parks, but some of my favorite days of work are when I get to visit and walk around the Disney World hotels! The peaceful atmosphere mid-day, the fun theming, and the beautiful walking trails all make hotel hopping so much fun for me. And as a frequent hotel visitor, there is something I’m waiting for with bated breath!
When I visit the hotels for work, I often stop at multiple resorts in one day. This means that I’m making good use of Disney World’s transportation systems — riding the Skyliner, boats, or Monorail to hit all the stops. However, in my opinion, the best way to get between the resorts is to walk!
There’s nothing quite like a nice walk between the hotels on warm, sunny day! I’ve enjoyed many a walk between Pop Century and Art of Animation, Caribbean Beach and Riviera, and of course, the hotels around Crescent Lake near EPCOT. But the walking path I used to enjoy the most was the one between the Polynesian Village Resort and the Grand Floridian Resort!
Unfortunately, this pathway has been closed for many, many months now as Disney does construction on the new Disney Vacation Club tower at the Polynesian. Before it closed, the pathway used to run between the two hotels along Seven Seas Lagoon, with an excellent view of Magic Kingdom, the Contemporary Resort, and of course, the stunning Wedding Pavilion at the Grand Floridian.
Without the walkway open, you can still travel between the hotels by Monorail or by boat (my preferred method at the moment — who doesn’t love a good boat ride?!). However, you won’t currently be able to walk all the way from Magic Kingdom to the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) like you used to — with the segment missing, you can only walk from Magic Kingdom to the Grand Floridian or from the Polynesian to the TTC.
Hopefully, this walkway will reopen in the near future and I’ll be able to enjoy that gentle sea breeze and those stunning views once again! I’m excited to see the new building at the Polynesian when it opens later this year, but possibly even more excited to have construction complete. 😜
We’ll keep you in the loop with any more construction changes from Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for the latest!

It was one of my favorite walkway too and a beautifully done transition. Sadly the new Polynesian building has pushed the properties together and the tranquility of that walk will be no more.
