There’s something in the air! Do you smell it? Well, if you happened to find yourself at Storybook Circus in Magic Kingdom on one fine day in May, you may have been treated to some special scents courtesy of the NEW Smellephants on Parade attraction!

OK, we’ll be honest. We’ve been calling this thing “bizarre,” “strange,” and even “confusing.” When we say “attraction,” think more along the lines of Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana in EPCOT versus Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster or Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. During our visit to Magic Kingdom, we noticed that Smellephants on Parade was introducing a soft opening, so we went to check it out!
Smellephants on Parade is Magic Kingdom’s new walkthrough experience in Storybook Circus, where you can breathe in the sweet, salty, and savory scents of the circus! Each new elephant character is designed to remind you of a classic circus carnival-related treat, and each elephant has a special scent for you to enjoy. Sounds weird, but also…interesting? We’re intrigued.

On May 2nd, Cast Members revealed that the attraction was testing a soft opening, starting at 10AM. Naturally, we stopped by to see what we could smell, and we were NOT disappointed. Allow us to walk you through the experience.

The attraction comes with a fun little scavenger hunt! Cast Members handed out these Smellephants on Parade maps, and from there, we matched each sticker to the corresponding elephant.

The scavenger hunt is so fun!
Now, let’s talk smells. The scent is released in “puffs,” so you may have to linger for a little while to really take in each scent. The scented air is strong, but it carries through the air, so if you’re not getting that sweet cotton candy scent, you may have to travel downwind (if you catch our drift😉).

The scents were rich and recognizable, so this is definitely a fun activity for little ones.
Smellephants on Parade
Some of the scents are easy to guess, while others may surprise you! This guy, for example, was a corn dog-scented elephant. We love corn dogs. We love elephants. The combination? PERFECTION!
Hot Dog
You can find these elephants scattered throughout the Storybook Circus area. During our visit, there wasn’t much of a crowd, so it didn’t take long to track them all down.
Smellephants on Parade
