There are quite literally DOZENS of Disney World hotels, so how do you choose where to stay?
Many times, price is the biggest factor, followed by things like amenities, transportation, or proximity to the parks. It can be a challenging decision to make! That’s why today, we’re discussing one of Disney’s most popular hotels and warning you about its BIG problem.
Disney’s Riviera Resort opened in 2019 as a Disney Vacation Club property with its own Disney Skyliner station. Many praise the hotel for its stunning architecture and grounds, plus its delicious dining and amazing views. But there’s a glaring problem that we’ve got to address.
If you’re planning on staying at the Riviera and you’re NOT a Disney Vacation Club member, you’re going to be shelling out some BIG bucks. To get the smallest room at the resort, a Tower Studio, you’ll need to pay a minimum of $423 per night, with prices going up to $783 per night. A one-bedroom suite starts at $890 per night.
And those Tower Studios? They’re INCREDIBLY small. We’ve stayed in them in the past and they’re quite snug, only designed for two people. It’s almost comical because the bathroom is nearly the same size as the rest of the room. So you’re shelling out $500 or more for some of the smallest rooms in Disney World.
With those itty bitty accommodations and high prices, the Riviera Resort can feel a bit like a ripoff sometimes. However, it’s a much better deal if you’re paying with Disney Vacation Club points. Not a DVC member? Don’t worry! We’ve got a super easy solution for you: You can RENT DVC points to save on your hotel rooms. We recommend our friends over at David’s Vacation Club Rentals for this service.
So if it’s your dream to stay at the Riviera Resort, you might want to check out those prices well ahead of time and start saving, or use Disney Vacation Club points to book your room. You gotta save some money to have fun in the parks! 😉

We are very curious about renting DVC points, but also petrified of the non-refundable issue. Which means that we would probably only rent points for very short stays, when we could originally book with a regular reservation, and change over at the last minute, when we were definitely going, and able to pay in full for a whole new reservation through rented points before getting our original reservation refunded. Which would still mean being at least 30 days out last time I checked, and that is still uncomfortably uncertain for us. And the rooms at the Riviera ARE just too small (and in our opinions, bland) for the price. For the money, there are so many places we would rather stay and that have roomier accommodations.

My biggest complaint about Riviera is how slow and seldom busses run. Obviously Epcot and Hollywood Studios are covered…assuming the lift is working but PLAN EXTRA TIME going to MK or AK. You’ll need it!!
