A construction disruption seems to be coming for Disney’s Pop Century Resort.

Construction and refurbishment projects are nothing out of the ordinary for Walt Disney World. There are often several in various stages of completion happening all the time, all of which are announced by Disney. However, we’ve just caught wind of a small project the company has yet to announce.
Recently, several readers have reached out to inform us that Disney has been sending letters alerting them to some refurb work happening soon at Pop Century’s food court, Everything Pop. The food court, which Disney describes as being a place to “sate appetites large and small with delicious dishes from a variety of tempting food stations” is Pop Century’s primary dining offering, located in the hotel’s Classic Hall building (where the lobby is).

According to the correspondence, “In an effort to ensure the quality of our facilities, we will be refreshing the Everything POP Food Court. During the refurbishment, the Everything POP Food Court will remain open. Food and beverage offerings will be available via mobile order in the My Disney Experience app, and beverage stations will still be accessible. Additionally, seating will be available throughout the dining room.”

Given that Everything Pop and its seating area will remain open during this time, this likely isn’t a massive refurbishment, but even the smallest potential work could affect your vacation, so it’s best to be aware. Currently, all signs point to this refurb happening sometime between July and September.

Interestingly, despite sending out emails to guests with reservations, Disney has (as of press time) yet to update Pop Century’s website as is usually customary for these types of projects.

UPDATE: 6/10/24
We spoke to several Cast Members at Pop Century. They told us that they’re not totally certain when and haven’t had meetings yet, but they know one section of the dining area will be open for people to sit and eat and that all food will switch over to mobile order only. They’re fairly confident the purple area of tables and booths will still be open. The y believe the overall menu will be reduced by 20%, and they’re still be able to offer grab n go items through mobile order and a few satellite sites like at the arcade and the bar. Breakfast will be open for select items and pastries and mostly everything will be filtered by mobile ordering solely with the exception of those temp sites.

I just call Disney resorts and they said there is no refurbishment at Pop Century Resort Food Court through the remainder of this year.
I hope I can order food the old-fashioned way: talking to a person and paying cash! Because I don’t have a smartphone! So tired of wdw demanding we use stressful new technologies!

We just spoke with our disney travel agent and they do not have any clue about it. Is it normal?
Who know how good or bad is the restaurant during the renovation?
During the renovation would the mobile order have the same meals as ordering g directly at the restaurant?
We are going there from 7th to 21st Sept. We will be 12 people, 2 families, and we are already scared with autism kids.
Hi Stephane! I just left POP Century after a 3 night stay and can assure you that everything was available on mobile order with the exception of the Tie Dye Cheesecake for some reason.
What I would suggest is to call Pop Century and ask them. I checked again and they said renovations will be July 29 through September.
Will we still be able to purchase the refillable mug during refurbishment
Hi Eve! Yes, you will still be able to get the mug. There are drink refill stations at the pools so you’ll be able to get refills.
