Are you ready to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom?

The ride is currently in early previews (and we finally got an opportunity to ride it after several misfortunate ride closures). Tiana’s Bayou Adventure officially opens to the public, though, on June 28th, and you’re probably already making plans to ride it, though. Here’s the thing, though, you might think it will be pretty easy to just get in line and ride the new attraction, but we’re here to tell you: it’s not quite that easy.Â
If you’ve been to Disney World even recently, you’ll know that most rides have two separate lines. There’s a standby line, which is basically the general…well…standby line. Then you have the Lightning Lane, which is the paid Genie+ option that lets you bypass that longer standby line for a shorter wait. Well, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is not going to be set up like that.Â

Instead, you’ll only be able to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure with some additional planning. First, you’ll be able to try to sign up for the FREE virtual queue to access the ride, at least when it first opens.
Currently, virtual queue works like this: twice a day (normally at 7AM and 1PM), virtual queue access will open up for the ride via the My Disney Experience app. You’ll have to be fast to grab a slot, but if you succeed, you’ll be assigned a boarding group for the day. You’ll ride the attraction when your boarding group is called (you’ll get a notification in the app).

The only other way to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be through Genie+. This is a little different from how Disney World usually does it when a new ride opens. Usually, the new ride will have an Individual Lightning Lane option, an additional paid option to skip the line for just that ride.

Genie+, though, allows you Lightning Lane access for multiple rides. For Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, if you can’t get a boarding group for the virtual queue, you can ride it via a shorter line by purchasing Genie+. You can purchase Genie+ at midnight the day you plan on visiting Magic Kingdom and riding Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Pricing will vary depending on demand. You’ll also have the option to purchase Genie+ just for the park you plan to visit (in this case, Magic Kingdom) or for multiple parks.

Now, there is a chance that Disney will change this at some point after the ride’s opening. Disney may eventually decide to do away with the virtual queue and just have a regular standby queue for the attraction. It’s probably going to depend on how in demand the ride is, and we expect it to be VERY in demand for at least a month or so after it opens. Once demand drops, Disney might just go with a normal standby line with the Lightning Lane.

Can you have 2 virtual passes at once? Tiana & Tron?
Hi Kim! As of right now, you can still only hold one virtual queue at a time so you would need to grab one at the 7am drop and be inside the park to grab the 1pm drop for the other queue. We are keeping a close eye on the situation, however, and will post any updates we receive.
