Funnel cake, churros, beignets…you can find them all in Disney World, and they are 🎵a few of my favorite things🎵. But today, I come to you with some sad news, because one of my favorite forms of fried dough is GONE. GONE, I tell you.
Here at Disney Food Blog, we take a meander through Disney World’s menus every single day. And today we noticed something that gave us a JOLT. Hushpuppies are GONE from the menu at Columbia Harbour House.

Columbia Harbour House is a fan-favorite quick-service restaurant in Magic Kingdom. It serves up fried fish, chicken tenders, and more…along with sides like french fries and hushpuppies. Well, it DID serve hushpuppies…

Surely they weren’t GONE?! It had to be a mistake. So one of our reporters hustled on over to Liberty Square today to check. And guys, it wasn’t a mistake. They’re off the menu. Cast Members said they didn’t think they are coming back — and that they don’t understand the change either, because hushpuppies were a very popular side here.

RIP, delicious balls of fried cornbread goodness. And that’s not all, here are the other menu changes we spotted at Columbia Harbour House today:
The New England Shrimp Boil, Grilled Shrimp Skewer, Sea Captains Fish Sandwich, Mixed Greens Salad, Chicken Strips, and Plant-Based Crab Cake Sandwich have all been removed from the menu.
Some new things have been added to the menu, as well, including Shrimp Skewer Platter, Fried Shrimp Platter, Shrimp Salad, Fish Platter, and Chicken Platter. And there’s a new vegan item, as well — the Crispy Mushroom Roll. And we’ve gotta say, it looks great!

Now it does look like some of these menu changes are tweaks, rather than whole new items. For example, we noticed that the items on the Trio Platter at the restaurant used to be described like this: “Combination of Fried Shrimp, Chicken Strips, and Battered Fish served with Hushpuppies and choice of Side.” And the Trio Platter description now reads like this: “Combination of Beer-battered Shrimp, Chicken, and Beer-Battered Fish served with French Fries.” (We highly recommend this Trio Platter by the way — it’s a great value, and a great meal to split if you’re into that kind of thing!)

We didn’t get a chance to stop and try these new items today, but rest assured we’ll be back SOON with a review of what’s new at Columbia Harbour House. Ugh! So sick of fries being the only side with oranges at Disney. Hush puppies were a nice change!
Seriously…. First the bean counters mess up Pecos Bill’ s and now they mess up Columbia House. Fire the whole lot. If hush puppies aren’t coming back to Columbia House I won’t be either….. I’m pretty sure I won’t be the only one…..

If they felt the need to get rid of something, it should have been the New England Shrimp Boil. We don’t do shrimp boils here in New England. We do LOBSTER boils (better yet, “lobstah boils”, haha). Sheesh!
I am so sad with how CHH had changed and us now just a Long John Silver – no more healthy options like fresh or grilled seafood or the hummus sandwich – just stuff fried to death – ughh!

Well some time ago they got rid of the tuna salad sandwich on a multi grain sliced bread. It was lovely and different from other offerings in the MK. But it’s gone……along with so many other things. Disneys attitude if it’s not on the menu then you will buy whatever is being offered.
More tone-deaf changes at WDW. At one time, Disney was the world’s leading business in listening to its guests (customers). What the heck is going on, Disney? I know Iger said he wasn’t doing a good job of listening when he retired the first time. In fact, Iger cited his failure to listen as one of his personal clues that it was time to retire the first time. Now does everyone at Disney have this disease? Josh D., you have it too? We want the Hush Puppies back. Chop chop.

I also tasted the difference in the waffle batter. For yrs Mickey waffles tasted like Carbon’s Golden Malt Waffle Mix but last visit in March, they had a nondescript taste. Plus could not find a large Mickey waffle. Lots of little Mickey waffles. I guess it’s how WDW handles shrinkflation.
We were going to try Harbor House for the first time in August. We always end up at our favorites, but wanted to try this on our trip.
I guess that is out as Hushpuppies our my absolute favorite with fish.
I’ll sign any petition getting hush puppies back on the menu!! Also, as someone who’s allergic to shellfish, I’m extremely sad they removed the fish sandwich. That was often times my go to for lunch.
No Hush Puppies? ðŸ˜!! Can we all gather at CHH and chant “we want hush puppies”!! Just kidding, but I would sign a petition bring it on.
Please don’t cut corners with getting rid of the hushpuppies!! It was always nice getting something other than fries!! Main reason for going to Columbia Harbour House! Please rethink the decision!!!

I mourn this terrible loss. I just had them last month. Why get rid of something different and only keep the same old sides? Really bad decision Disney. BRING BACK HUSHPUPPIES!

When did they discontinue the Clam Chowder?
I grew up on southern food and and grew up a southern kitchen and that’s how my husband and me eat and love catfish and always have hush puppies with them that is so stupid to get rid of them those people making those stupid decisions need to stop so bring back those hush puppies

Concur with others here. Hushpuppies were something different than the same old same old fries. I don’t eat the fries ever when at Disney. I tell them I don’t want them, or they wind up in the trash. Still missing the multigrain tuna fish sandwich too. The folks that are making these decisions aren’t really smart at all when it comes to pleasing their consumers (guests). Just more of a don’t care attitude. PLEASE STOP ruining things Disney!!! “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Not everything has to be refreshed.

This is just a continuing saga of everything good being removed from WDW.. started with Splash and now great and popular foods such as Hushpuppies, shrimp skewers being removed! Hushpuppies are delicious and went well with the main courses
This seems like such a silly move. They were a great and popular side. Plus they are super inexpensive to make so the mark up was pretty high. Could not possibly lose money on hush puppies. I only found CHH last year because I am not a big seafood fan but I saw hush puppies on the menu and decided to give it a try. Was looking forward to going back there this year but now no need. I guess this is another example of whenever you find something you like, it often disappears. I would be happy to sign any petition to try to bring them back.
Fried dough is cheap, who is making these decisions?
As a local AP holder we were upset to see how they changed the trio platter. I wish I would have read this article before ordering lol. No hushpuppies to be found in the restaurant, as well as only one piece of fish, a small chicken tender, and three small shrimp. BIG change from the normal platter that was an excellent value and worth the $15. Do better Disney!! We all pay you enough money to get it right.
Went to Columbia Harbor House last week. The trio platter was only one chicken strip, one fish piece and two shrimp with fries. Basically half the food for the same price. I was not pleased
I heard that they are coming back. Not on the menu yet but they are returning (maybe there already if you ask for them)

But now they are a side that you pay extra for……how expensive can these be?
