Disney World just keeps changing, and it’s hard to keep up!
Recently, a new ride opened in Magic Kingdom, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and a classic ride, Country Bear Jamboree, reopened with a new show. That park is also getting a huge expansion. Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be getting an update, too, while two new restaurants are being built over at Disney’s BoardWalk Hotel. We’ve also seen some recent pool closures at Disney World hotels, but an entire food court at one hotel is going to be affected by construction soon.
We were recently informed by some of our readers that Disney sent emails to hotel guests letting them know about work to be done at the food court at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Everything Pop. The food court, which is located in the Classic Hall building (where you’ll find the lobby) is the hotel’s main dining spot.
The email states that the Everything Pop Food Court will be getting refreshed, but that it will remain open while work is being done. Note that all hotel guests will need to use Mobile Order in the My Disney Experience app to place their food and drink orders there. Seating will also still be available in the dining room.
This information is also on the Disney World website on the Pop Century page. Note that the work is set to begin on July 29th and run through September 29th. Since the food court remains open, we don’t think it should impact the menu too much.
Because Pop Century is part of the Skyliner line, you also can take a quick ride on that mode of transportation to grab food at any of the EPCOT Resorts (Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Disney’s Beach Club Resort, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, and the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin), Disney’s Caribbean Resort, and Disney’s Riviera Resort. So you’ll have plenty of convenient food options if you feel like leaving your hotel!

We are at Pop now and never got an email about the closure. When we checked in the cast member said it would be closed and that we can mobile order and that seating would be available in the arcade.

Hi Gigi, my family and I will be at The Pop Century during construction of the food court. I pay for all our meals with Disney Gift Cards. Can I use Disney Gift Cards to pay when I order food on mobile at Pop Century.
A second question. How can a get a menu for the different Pop Century food court booths. Thanks Gigi, Ron
Eloni says
I’m not sure if this is correct or not but I was told that refillable drink cups can only be filled at the pool bar during the refurb. Would be great if someone could report back on this. I guess you could always trek over to Art of Animation for drinks.
DFB Gigi says
Hi Ron. Yes, you can use Disney Gift Cards on mobile orders. In the My Disney Experience app, you will be able to pull up the menu and see what is available to order by clicking “Order Food” and then choosing “Everything POP Shopping & Dining” and then “Begin order.”

Wow we are going to be there 8/27 and it has yet to have been mentioned. We booked with the dining plan as well in an upgraded room. Can’t believe it hadn’t been mentioned when booked! Grrrrr
Holly says
After we read this and checked with the resort, we changed our booking and moves to the Coronado… It was only $29 more and to be honest I would rather have that large food court with the beverage stands available to me when we needed them. I’m sort of shocked that Disney did not share the news with us, that there would be any sort of construction going on. I do understand that you can use the drink cups anywhere at any hotels, but going to different hotels is not as easy as it used to be in a lot of hotels will refuse entrance.
Eloni says
Holly – we will be there at the same time. We will probably go over to Art of Animation to eat. Don’t really care to eat in the arcade at Pop.
Eloni says
Holly – I’m sure that was a wise decision. I was not informed by email either. They should also be informing folks of the arcade not being available which I assume is true since they will have people dining in there.

Even better, booked at disneyland where the monorail will be down during our week visit… and they classified this as a “ride not transportation”… monorail cuts the walk down from our hotel by 15 min… we chose the disneyland hotel because it is the OG and originally booked in March… now that the monorail is down if we upgrade to the other resort is $3500… yep… for the same type of room. WTF. And the agents attitude is ‘this is a ride, not transportation’ You can walk to the amusement parks”. There are zero accomodations available. So if the pool is closed, the rates stay the same too… . And more rides have been announced to be closed… including space mountain to say the very least (always with the closures). Just wish the company was more proactive/transparent with a calendar so that when you are spending $7K+ you can do so without regrets. These sorts of closures are most definitely on their radar well before our trip was booked…

How will they be handling multiple food allergies? The app really doesn’t support this, and the standard practice is to talk to the chef when you place your order at the counter.
And how long do they expect construction to be going on?
Tiff says
All of this is outside the norm and Disney seems to be more concerned with the bottom line. Not sure why I am shocked… allergies… ha! Disney will leave it to you to manage that for sure. Best of luck to all of you
