Your Disney entertainment needs are about to get a little bit pricier.
We love to bring you fun news and Disney savings updates, but unfortunately, this is not one of those times. A major Disney service is about to get more expensive and we have all the details you need to know.
Per Variety and other reports, Disney is about to hike the prices for all Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ standalone plans, as well as the prices of three-way bundles.
Going into effect on October 17th, 2024, the ad-supported version of Disney+ will go up $2 to $9.99 monthly, the Premium version with no ads will also rise by $2 to $15.99 monthly, Hulu with ads will follow the trend of raising by $2 to go up to $9.99 per month, and the ad-free Hulu plan will go up $1 to $18.99 per month.
As we previously mentioned, the Disney triple-play bundles will also increase in price by $2. The Disney Bundle Trio Basic plan will go up to $16.99 per month while the Disney Bundle Trio Premium plan will be $26.99 monthly.
It’s worth noting that the pricing for the Duo Basic bundle with Disney+ and Hulu with ads and the Duo Premium bundle with Disney+ and Hulu ad-free will stay at their current prices, as will the Disney+/Hulu/Max packages with and without ads.
Per Variety, the current monthly plans will look like the following in October:
- Disney+ Basic (With Ads) — $9.99 (old: $7.99)
- Disney+ Premium (No Ads) — $15.99 (old: $13.99)
- Hulu With Ads — $9.99 (old: $7.99)
- Hulu With No Ads — $18.99 (old: $17.99)
- ESPN+ — $11.99 (old: $10.99)
- Disney Bundle Trio Basic (Disney+, Hulu with ads, ESPN+) — $16.99 (old: $14.99)
- Disney Bundle Trio Premium (Disney+, Hulu with ads, ESPN+) — $26.99 (old: $24.99)
- Hulu + Live TV (With SVOD Ads) — $82.99 (old: $76.99)
- Hulu + Live TV (No SVOD Ads) — $95.99 (old: $89.99)
It’s not all bad news. To soften the blow of the price increases, Disney announced that Disney+ will add “continuous playlists to its core subscription on-demand offering in the U.S.” beginning September 4th. According to Disney, “ABC News Live and a playlist focused on preschool content will be available to all subscribers, with four additional curated playlists to follow later this fall.”
Disney+ President Alisa Bowen promoted the playlists, saying, “Playlists are the latest example of how we’re providing the best value and experience for our subscribers every time they open Disney+. Whether it’s news, kids’ content, popular genres, hit TV shows, or blockbuster films, there will be something for everyone in a lean-back viewing experience based on seasonality and interest.”
The new ABC News Live access will be available ahead of the 2024 Presidential Election and provide all Disney+ subscribers with access to “live newscasts, breaking news, live events, and in-depth special reports.” As for the preschool content, we’re expecting to see TV series and shorts such as Sofia the First, The Lion Guard, Puppy Dog Pals, and Minnie’s Bow-Toons.
Additionally, four curated playlists will roll out Premium subscribers this fall that will feature Disney+ content that will be refreshed monthly. These playlists include:
- Seasonal Content — a collection of seasonal-themed content from across the Disney+ catalog
- Epic Stories — a compilation of action-packed stories from marquee brands and franchises, including Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars
- Throwbacks — a destination for nostalgic pop culture content
- Real Life — a lineup of traditional documentaries, biopics, and true stories

With Disney + surpassing Amazon Prime in an annual cost. D+ needs to start offering more or I can picture even more people dropping their service. I know that Iger stated that D+ will finally turn a profit but cutting service while jacking up the price isn’t a viable long-term solution.
