It’s a busy week for Disney!
Monday, August 7th, started with a hurricane, The Walt Disney Company had their Q3 earnings call on August 7th, and D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event is happening on August 9th through August 11th. But even with all that going on throughout the week, the Disney World parks are as busy as ever. However, one park in Disney World had an interesting situation occur in the afternoon of August 7th.
On August 7th, Typhoon Lagoon, the water park that is currently operating in Disney World, temporarily stopped admitting new guests due to having some “operational downtimes,” according to Guest Services.
The park remained open but was not allowing anyone else to come in. However, we called again and confirmed with Disney that the park did reopen to all new guests.
Parks may temporarily stop letting more people in for several reasons, but usually, we see it happen when the park reaches capacity. We were only told that it closed for “operational downtimes” on August 7th, so we can’t confirm whether it was due to the park reaching capacity or not.
Before you head to any park, it’s good to check the Disney World app or website to confirm operating times for the day. You’ll also see notifications of parks closing early or reaching capacity. Having the Disney World app on your phone is something we recommend anytime you’re heading to the resort for the most up-to-date information.
Incidents like this one are unpredictable, so keep checking for updates as you plan your trip and when you’re there! Currently, Typhoon Lagoon is the only water park open. Blizzard Beach, Disney World’s other water park, is currently closed for refurbishment. The two water parks open and close opposite each other, but we’re always on the lookout for when Blizzard Beach might open again.

Most of the rides were down until around 3:00 pm which is probably why they didn’t let in more people. I don’t know why the rides were down.
