It’s probably going to take us a bit longer to get over all that happened during the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.
On top of all the announcements of new movies Disney+ series, lands coming to the Disney parks, new parades, and even gaming experiences, we got the announcement that a new Villains Land would be coming to Magic Kingdom! Over the days since, we’ve gotten more details about it, but we’re just hungry for more so we did a little digging and we’ve got to talk about what we’ve found!
As we were saying, Josh D’Amaro, Disney Experiences Chairman, dropped the news that the new Villains Land would be coming to the Magic Kingdom (and it’s something we’ve all been waiting for for years now)!
D’Amaro went on to share that in Villains Land, there would be dining, shopping, and TWO MAJOR ATTRACTIONS “on an incredibly twisted grand scale.” He also said, “It’s going to be a fearless new vision for what a Disney experience can be.”
Now, it’s the talk of these new attractions that really got our minds into overdrive. Where would they be, and what would they be like? In order to figure that out, we pulled out our handy dandy concept art and had us a looksie.
To be fair, this is just concept art, so we can’t get exact details, but there are plenty of observations we can make and good guesses based on the info they hid in plain sight. Speaking of “hidden in plain sight,” have a closer look at the bottom middle of the picture. You’ll know you’re in the right area because there appears to be water there.
Is that a…CAVERN ROLLER COASTER??
From the concept art, the best we can gather is that this area is some sort of a cavern complete with waterfalls. And if we look even closer, it looks like there’s a coaster running through it. So this new coaster could potentially be below “sea level” so to speak. Also, there seems to be a second set of tracks behind the ride vehicle that’s zooming past.
Peek off into the mountains, and you’ll also see what appears to be the track of a coaster. Is it the same track as the cavern coaster? Are we getting TWO coasters in this land? Is it something else entirely? We can see a car ON this set of tracks, but we can’t tell if it’s the same ride. This ride vehicle does appear to have fewer cars than the one “underneath” the water, but that could just be a difference in the concept art, and it may be the same ride. So many questions!
Can you picture it? A dark and eerie cavern with waterfalls cascading all around, and you screaming your head off as you zoom through it all. Sounds amazing and downright chilling, right?
If Disney really is planning a cavern coaster, this could be a game-changer. Technology aside, just the setting alone could be fantastic. I mean, we could be diving into a cavernous abyss with villains reign supreme — say, an iconic villain hideout like Ursula’s underwater lair or even the Evil Queen’s dungeon.
All we know for sure is that with this new Villains Land, Disney is going to pull out all the stops. We’ll be keeping our eyes and ears open for more details, so keep following DFB!
