It’s a great time to be a Star Wars fan. Star Wars is literally everywhere now. We’ve had SO many more movies released, with more to come, new TV shows, new books, new comics, and even new video games. We’ve even got Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in two Disney Parks when we get the urge to visit a galaxy far, far away.
However, a lot of what makes Star Wars great is its music. If you’re a fan of Academy Award-winning composer and Disney Legend John Williams, who not ONLY scored Star Wars, but also Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, E.T., Superman, and MANY more iconic movies, you’re in for a real treat. A new documentary on Williams will premiere soon on Disney+!
That’s right, a brand new documentary called Music By John Williams will premiere on Disney+ on November 1st. The documentary, which will also have a limited theatrical release, will take a look at the life and career of Williams, following his musical career that led him to become one of the most prolific film composers of all time.
The documentary will debut with a world premiere at AFI Fest on October 23rd, which will begin a limited theatrical run, followed by the documentary premiering on Disney+. The documentary features interviews with Stephen Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, Kate Capshaw, J.J. Abrams, Chris Martin, Ron Howard, George Lucas, James Mangold, and many more.
Williams has racked up a ton of credits and awards during his long career, including 54 Oscar nominations and five Oscar wins. He was the composer for the original Star Wars score, as well as the other eight films in the Skywalker saga. He’s known for scoring some of the most popular movies in pop culture, including Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park.
Williams was honored with the American Film Institute Life Achievement Award in 2016, becoming the first composer to receive that honor. Recently, he received the Disney Legends award at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.
