We got to experience a very special event recently!
We went to Disney Vacation Club’s exclusive event for members, Moonlight Magic, at Hollywood Studios. Moonlight Magic events are complimentary for members and take place at different parks throughout the year. Members can sign up and reserve their spots on the Disney Vacation Club Website. We are so grateful that we got to check out this event that gives Disney Vacation Club members and their families a chance to enjoy attractions, special character interactions, entertainment, and snacks after hours!
As we mentioned, Moonlight Magic is for Disney Vacation Club members and can be compared to a Disney After Hours event—except this one is free! Park capacity is limited, which means ride wait times stay low throughout the night.
We went to the Moonlight Magic offering in Hollywood Studios, and the event lasted from 9:30PM to 12:30AM, after the park closed to the general public. Unlike other After Hours events, this event does not grant you early admission into the park.
First, we got our map and wristbands!
The map was specially made for the event!
We were even given snack coupons that we could use throughout the night. Just like other After Hours events, you can get unlimited ice cream and other snacks. BUT these snack certificates allowed us to get qualifying food and drink items that were part of the Disney Dining Plan at select dining locations. This is another huge perk of this free event!
We made sure to get lots of ice cream!
Specialty entertainment offerings included this DJ who was set up in front of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
Of course, we also spent the night finding all the cool character meet-and-greets! We got to see Moongirl from Moongirl and Devil Dinosaur, some of our favorite monsters from Monsters Inc., Mickey and Minnie in their Halloween best, and even Jawas from Star Wars!
Seeing George Sanderson was a huge surprise!
Mickey and Minnie greeted in front of Hollywood and Vine.
As expected, wait times were super low throughout the night since attendance is limited.
Look at how low the wait time for Rise of the Resistance was! 10 minutes for stand-by is almost unheard of!
If the night could not get any better, we even got to see a special showing of Fantasmic!
The park was pretty empty throughout the night, so it really did feel like we had the park to ourselves at some points.
Moonlight Magic is one of the many perks that Disney Vacation Club Members get to take advantage of as part of their membership. We had so much fun at Moonlight Magic and can’t get over how this event is free!

We have been to Moonlight Magic at MK & AK. Both were great! The atmosphere is fun-less people-they are happier lol , we’re all members so a common link, and seeing characters that are not seen often is fun. And of course the shorter wait times for rides. ☺️
