We’ve been keeping an eye on Hurricane Milton as it soon makes landfall in Florida.
The storm is currently passing through the Gulf of Mexico as a Category 4 storm — after holding as a Category 5 for most of Monday. A significant portion of the state is under a hurricane warning with many major theme parks expected to close ahead of the storm — which now includes SeaWorld Orlando.

Hurricane Milton is expected to make landfall sometime late Wednesday, October 9th, and SeaWorld Orlando is taking precautions to keep parkgoers, employees, and animals safe.
An update was shared on the park’s Instagram page advising that SeaWorld Orlando would be closed on Wednesday, October 9th; and Thursday, October 10th due to Hurricane Milton. We saw Busch Gardens Tampa Bay (which is SeaWorld’s sister park) also announce park closures for this storm.
The full statement reads:
“After reviewing the latest route of Hurricane Milton, and to ensure the safety of our ambassadors, guests and animals, SeaWorld Orlando will be closed on Wednesday, October 9th and Thursday, October 10th. Continue to check back for updates on park reopening on Friday, October 11.”
At the time of publication, both Disney World and Universal Orlando remain open — though that could change at any moment. Disney World had already restricted hotel reservations and park passes for Wednesday and has announced the closure of select hotels that may not be as safe as others.
We’ll be keeping an eye on the latest theme park closures in Florida and will let you know if Universal Orlando or Disney World announce any further closures — including to the parks.
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for additional updates regarding Hurricane Milton that could impact your vacation. If you’re at Disney World or elsewhere in the storm’s predicted path, make sure you listen to local officials and news for the most up-to-date information.
