There are so many dining options in Disney World that you may be confused as to why someone would choose to go to the McDonald’s on property.

But for our reporters, and many of the Disney World staff who are there every single day, sometimes you’re just in the mood for some basic fast food. Or, maybe you’ve got a picky kiddo and you don’t want to fight them on what they’ll eat (or if you’re picky yourself!), or are arriving at the resort late and want to grab something with a drive-through. Whatever your reasoning, we get it. However, there is one thing about this McDonald’s we need to warn you about — you might not be expecting it!

This McDonald’s is almost just like any other you’ll find across the nation — the same menu, same taste (for the most part), all the things you know and love about the chain. However, when you go to take a sip of your drink, you’ll notice that there’s something different with your straw.

Since the McDonald’s is located on Disney World property, that means there’s one very obvious rule it has to follow — using paper straws instead of the plastic ones you usually get at these restaurants. This is because back in 2018 Disney made a commitment to reduce plastic waste in an effort to help the environment. Their 2030 Environmental Goals Report states that they have successfully eliminated over 200 million plastic straws and stirrers per year with this change!

While this is great for the environment, it doesn’t make it great for drinking sometimes, as many drinks are much harder to enjoy with those paper straws, and you’ll find that to be the case around all of Disney World (except for Joffrey’s locations, which use those biodegradable sugarcane straws that we’re much bigger fans of). So, if you’re not a fan of these straws, you’ll want to prepare to take the lid off your drink and just drink it straight from the cup, or you can bring your own reusable straw.
