Listen, our trips to Disney World are magical to be sure, but has everything always gone according to plan?
If you’re like me, I’m sure you’ve had your fair share of missed reservations, or super duper long lines, and the occasional treat that just had to dive out of our hands right to the ground. Thinking about all that, have you ever had one of those premonitions that basically spell trouble for your Disney World trip? Well, we reached out to you to get your thoughts.
We reached out to our followers on Facebook to ask: “What’s one sign that spells TROUBLE for a Disney World trip?” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments!
Now, let’s dive into some of your responses!
Everything, Everywhere, All at Once
First up, we’ve got our reader Rachel who shared, “The Expectation to See/Do It All 😬” I think we’re all pretty guilty of this one. If you’ve booked a Disney World trip, you probably have a massive list of must-sees, must-eats, and must-dos, and you’re ready to maximize every minute. But here’s the deal: Disney World is HUGE. The reality of it is that if you plan on hitting every single attraction, restaurant, parade, and photo op, you’re setting yourself up for massive disappointment and some very sore feet.
Just like Rachel pointed out, the expectation to do it all is like a fast track to burnout. We highly recommend that you choose a few top priorities, enjoy the magical surprises along the way, and maybe even sneak in some downtime. Disney World is all about making memories, not checking off a to-do list.
It’s All About the Mugs
Next, we’ve got Jim who shared, “They Ran Out of the Drink Refillable Mugs! (Sandy… don’t unpack the bags… we’re going home!)” Just in case you are clueless as to what Jim is talking about, you should know that refillable mugs at Disney World are practically iconic.
These aren’t just any travel mug. They’re your lifeline to hydration and a way to keep those long days in the park a little more refreshing. So, imagine the devastation when they’re out of stock. So, we can totally understand if this is a full-stop red flag for you. We get it. Alternatively, you could make sure to bring a reliable backup so no one has to go parched or heartbroken!
Sharing is…Caring??
Next, Dan has this one for us: “Sick Children Sharing Your Transportation” Now, if you’ve ever been packed into Disney transportation with a coughing little one, you know it can feel like a pretty ominous sign of what’s to come. All of those crowded monorails, buses, and boats mean you’re going to be much closer to your fellow travelers than you might want, especially during cold and flu season.
To Dan’s point, none of us want to spend our trip nursing a cold or worse. Thinking proactively, you may want to carry hand sanitizer, consider bringing some disinfectant wipes, and maybe take the long, distance-friendly paths in mind for your mid-afternoon strolls at Disney World.
Is That a Tickle in the Back of my Throat?
On the same topic, Mark shared, “My Throat Feels Scratchy…” This one feels like it’s the ultimate “don’t unpack the bags” moment because it might mean a cold is lurking around the corner.
Whether it’s from all the late night fun at the parks, a touch of exhaustion, or just plain bad luck, feeling under the weather is a sure way to miss out on park time. Make sure you hydrate, rest up, and pack some immunity-boosting essentials just in case. At Disney World, a little self-care can go a long way!
Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow
Next, Joanne shared, “The ‘See You Real Soon’ Sign When You Are Leaving…So Much Sadness 😔”. We feel you Joanne. There’s nothing quite like the way Disney’s “See You Real Soon” sign pulls on your heartstrings.
It’s a signal that the magic is over, and the reality of post-Disney blues is hitting hard. After days of magical sights, sounds, and snacks, saying goodbye is just plain tough.
How Many Are In Your Party?
Next up, Jennifer shared this one with the group: “Too Many People in Your Travel Group” As fun as big family trips can be, coordinating the schedules, desires, and energy levels of a large group can be tricky.
I think we all know the struggle of having too many voices in the mix. When every decision from lunch spots to ride choices becomes a group debate, it’s easy for stress levels to rise and fun levels to dip. A tip that we try to follow is to break into smaller groups for part of the day, and meet up later. Disney World is way more manageable (and magical!) in smaller doses.
Looks Like There’s a Storm a Coming
Next, we’ve got this one that Heather pointed out: “A Hurricane” In Florida, the only thing more certain than humidity is the chance of a storm, especially during hurricane season. A hurricane warning can be a massive damper on the best-laid plans.
Disney has protocols in place for these situations, but weather-related worries are always tough to manage. Always make sure to keep an eye on the forecast, especially if you’re visiting from June to November. Also, be ready to switch up plans and pack rain gear just in case.
Where to Eat?
Last, but not least, Kristin shared this one: “All the Restaurants Are Booked!” Can you imagine that after a long day of rides, you’re starving, and every single restaurant you want to try is fully booked? Cue the sad Disney music.
This one could be one of those panic situations. It’s not that food options aren’t plentiful. It’s just that all the good spots fill up fast. So this doesn’t happen to you, try to make your dining reservations as early as possible, or even consider quick-service options!
Those were just some of your thoughts about the signs that could spell trouble for your Disney World Trip, and now we want to hear even more from you! Until then, keep it right here for all the latest Disney news! Also, follow us on Facebook to join in on the next discussion.

Waking up early to choose your first lightening lane (top tier Rockin Rollercoaster), then finding out MUCH LATER that it’s not going to reopen and there’s no more availability for the other top tier ride (Slinky Dog Dash)…. No exceptions for those of us that unknowingly chose the wrong option that morning. Kinda felt like a waste of money.

I have always gone to WDW with a list of things to do. BUT I also know when to walk past a ride or attraction that has a “too long” wait time. So, NEVER go without a “Things I want to do” list but be flexible. Also, I ALWAYS eat at “off times” latest lunch or early dinner… It’s a great way to be flexible.

I was at Disney World a couple of weeks ago with thousands of others. I do not like the way Disney does the new multi passes or lightening lanes. You cannot book them until one week before you arrive at Disney World and so you are trying to book your multi passes with thousands of others and you may or may not get them but what my family experienced with even getting on at 7:00 am one week before we arrived, most passes were gone early in the day they were all at night that was left to choose from. When you have little ones that has been in the park most of the day waiting in lines they are tired by night time. But in order to ride some rides we had to book them at night. We also experienced lots of rides going down and not being able to ride what we paid for in our multi passes. We found this trip it was not worth the money you now have to pay for the multi passes or lightening lanes on top of your tickets to the parks, hopper, resort and dining plan. Disney has gotten ridiculously over priced! Disney just seems to keep putting the dollar on more and more things. Now you buy your bands before they came free when you got your tickets to the parks. I really do not know how families that have several kids can afford Disney anymore. I really do not think this is what Walt Disney wanted from this most magical place. It was supposed to be a place where families could take their kids and have a magical time without having to worry how they are going to pay for everything! I think Disney needs to work on changing things to help families out. It is a great place but before long no one will be able to afford to take their families!

Reservations – believe me, people cancel all the time. There are several apps out there that will notify you of an opening as soon as one becomes available..and if you are quick enough, you will be able to grab it. I’ve used mousedining, for instance, to grab reservations for Blue Bayou and Carnation Cafe in Disneyland as well as Space 220, Garden Grill, and Be Our Guest, all within same day or 2 days in advznce. They have never failed me and well worth the price!
