You said you were looking for a bite at a place that was out of this world, right?
The Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre Restaurant in Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a one-of-a-kind eatery that transports you to a retro drive-in movie experience, complete with classic sci-fi films, B-movie trailers, and seating in car-shaped booths, and right now, we’re taking you with us to check out some NEW eats!
Atmosphere
The atmosphere at Sci-Fi Dine-In is 100% its main attraction. As soon as you enter, you’re greeted by a hostess who leads you into a “drive-in” under the stars. The tables are arranged in rows of classic ‘50s-style convertibles, all facing a massive screen.
Each car has its own row of seats, so you’re lined up like you’re at an actual drive-in, which gives it a fun and intimate vibe. You can almost forget you’re indoors!
The restaurant is dimly lit to create a nighttime drive-in feel. While the dining setup can be a bit quirky, you can’t deny that the immersive theme is charming, unique, and perfect for anyone looking to be transported to another time.
Menu
When it comes to the menu, you’ll find that it features your typical all-American cuisine. Think things like burgers, sandwiches, wings, salads, and a handful of appetizers.
Now, don’t sleep on those drink and dessert options too. Okay, moving on to the main reason you’re here — the food and drinks.
Eats
We were on a mission to try two NEW items: the Beamed-Up Burger and the Prime Rib Sandwich.
Let’s start with the Beamed-Up Burger which is a double-patty smash burger featuring American cheese, shredded lettuce, jalapeño-bourbon-bacon jam, and house-made burger sauce on a brioche bun for $23.
If you’re a burger lover, this one doesn’t disappoint. The double smash patties are flavorful and juicy, and the quality of the beef is surprisingly good for theme park fare. The brioche bun holds up well without overpowering the ingredients, giving each bite a great balance of flavor.
But the real standout here is the jalapeño-bourbon-bacon jam. It’s smoky, spicy, and just sweet enough to make this burger feel more unique. Bits of crispy bacon in the jam add texture, and the spice is mild but satisfying. As for the toppings, the shredded lettuce adds a crisp freshness that you might not expect but definitely appreciate.
Is it worth $23? Well, in the world of Disney prices, it’s on par with what you’d expect, and at least you’re getting a high-quality burger in a memorable setting. This might be one of the better burger options in the park if you’re willing to splurge.
Next up, let’s talk about the Prime Rib Sandwich, which was a bit more of a mixed experience. It features shaved prime rib, provolone cheese, house-made giardiniera (a pickled veggie mix), arugula, and a side of au jus on a toasted hoagie roll for $24.
It certainly looks impressive, with a good amount of beef and fresh arugula peeking out from the toasted bread. But when it comes to flavor, here’s where it falls a bit short of expectations. The prime rib, unfortunately, was on the colder side and lacked that melt-in-your-mouth quality you’d hope for. There’s a cafeteria-like blandness to the beef, which is surprising for a “prime rib” item.
On the positive side, the provolone adds a delicious creaminess, and the au jus is flavorful, with a savory depth. The pickled veggies add a pop of flavor that elevates each bite. But overall, the sandwich felt like it needed something more. Would we get it again? Probably not, but it’s still a good option for anyone who isn’t in the mood for a burger.
So, what’s our verdict on the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre Restaurant?!
Overall
All in all, the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre Restaurant is a destination that’s worth visiting for the experience, even if it’s just once. It may not be the best place for those seeking culinary highs, but the fun factor and atmosphere make up for the price of entry.
If you’re planning a visit, we’d recommend sticking with the burger or other classic options to avoid any disappointments. Otherwise, just buckle up, sit back, and let the Sci-Fi Dine-In transport you to a world of retro-futuristic fun!

We love Sci-Fi, more for the atmosphere than the food. You have to really hope you’re in the mood for a burger when your reservation rolls around (I’d usually rather have something else). I was so excited to read your review of new menu items. That’s unfortunate about the prime rib sandwich. It would have been so lovely if that one was a winner. I wouldn’t be able to handle the jalapenos on the burger, and I’d be concerned that leaving off the jam would take too much from it. I guess I’ll have to hope that there is something else that catches my eye – or that I’m really up for a burger – on our next visit. Thanks for the review!

The buggers both sound nice. I wish the cars would fix a family of 3. One eating alone is no fun. Guess have to get buggers someplace else.

We went here last month! My husband had the special of the day, pastrami cheeseburger, it was delicious! I had the mini corndogs and onion ring apps as a meal.
