Hanukkah Sameach! We’re ready to celebrate the Festival of Lights with some classic Hanukkah favorites, which have quickly become DFB faves during the holiday season!
The 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays has officially begun, and there is a lot to offer. There are plenty of food booths with tasty items, merchandise items to grab (of course), and even concerts to watch. But don’t let it overwhelm you. We’ve got you covered with everything you need to know. And now we’re heading to one spot in particular — the L’Chaim! Holiday Kitchen — to give you the FULL scoop! Is it worth a try? Let’s find out!
Menu
Over at the L’Chaim! Holiday Kitchen, there are plenty of items to choose from. All of the items here are returning including the iconic Potato Latkes, but how does the food hold up in 2024? You can find this booth between the Morocco and France pavilions.
Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself and see if this full docket of returning favorites lives up to the reputation of this DFB Favorite booth!
Eats
First up, we grabbed the Pastrami on Rye with house-made pickles and deli mustard for $6. This one is a heavy hitter, as it has been a DFB favorite for years and made several Best of the Fest lists…did this year’s version hold up? We think this super hearty sandwich is such a great deal for the price.
We enjoyed this this year! The meat was nice and moist and the mustard paired very well with it, but we will admit that the bread was a bit on the dry side. It brought it down a bit for us, but overall, it’s still a solid savory option.
Potato Latkes are a staple of this booth, so we have to talk about the Smoked Salmon Potato Latkes for $6.25. Originally introduced in 2019, the flavors have worked well here from year to year. Last year, we LOVED salmon. There was a good portion of smoked salmon, as well as a dill-heavy sour cream on top.
You get a good portion of salty smoked salmon, as well as a generous dollop of sour cream on top, which blends very well together. The dill really brightens the flavors up, and we love how crunchy the latke itself is on the outside. If you’re a more adventurous eater, you’ll enjoy this one!
If you’re a plant-based eater or you want something simpler, grab the Potato Latkes on their own for $4.75! Texture is a big thing with these, and just like in the past, we enjoyed the crunchy outside with the doughy inside. This is also a good option if you don’t like salmon!
The Rugalach for $4.25 was a new addition last year, and it’s a pastry filled with raspberry jam, walnuts, and cinnamon. This dessert almost reminds us of a cinnamon roll but made more with pie crust. These are chewy and sweet, with loads of cinnamon flavor, and we adored them again this year!
The Cookie Stroll is a big hit each year at the Festival of the Holidays, and the plant-based Black and White Cookie is a part of that! For $3.25, you can snag a Cookie Stroll stamp on your festival passport AND a delicious treat. In the past, we thought this cookie looked boring, but it reminded us of the vanilla mini scone from Starbucks.
This year, though, we loved it! The cookie is so thick and moist it’s almost like a cake, and the frosting on top is perfect as a crowd-pleaser. Is it going to be the most exciting cookie you have? Probably not, but it’s delicious, and that’s what matters to us!
Drinks
In terms of drinks at this booth, you can buy the Frozen New York Whiskey Sour featuring Manifest Whiskey and Manischewitz Blackberry Wine for $12.50. We gave this a try last year when it debuted, and we really liked it! This reminds us of a Moonshine Sour from the American Adventure pavilion. It was like biting into a blackberry — sweet, but then you get a sourness at the end.
This was on the sweeter side, leaning more towards that blackberry wine, so it wasn’t very whiskey-forward. It did melt pretty quickly, even though it’s not very warm today, so keep that in mind! If you’re a fan of sweeter drinks, this will likely be a big hit for you.
The other drink available here is the Brooklyn Brewery Black Chocolate Stout for $5.75 for 6oz. and $9.75 for 12 oz. So now that we’ve wrapped that booth, is it worth your precious park time?
OVERALL
Overall, we loved this booth and think it’s a very strong contender for Best of the Fest! We love how it’s tried and true and hasn’t let us down for years in a row, making it dependable. There are sweet and savory options here, an option to please picker eaters, and a few to appease adventurous diners as well. We certainly think it’s worth a stop on your festival day!
That’s it for this booth, but there’s a LOT more where that came from!
