We’re paying a visit to the Yukon Holiday Kitchen!

Yukon Holiday Kitchen is one of the Holiday Kitchens (also known as Food Booths) at the 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays. Year after year, this booth tends to impress with its menu of hearty dishes, terrific Beer Flights, Icewine, and more. So we’re pretty excited to check it out to see how things fare this go ’round, and we hope you are, too. Join us at Yukon Holiday Kitchen!

Yukon Holiday Kitchen is serving up returning favorites: Seared Salmon, Beef Bourguignon, and the Peppermint Pinwheel Cookie!

No warm toddies here among the drinks! Your options include Frozen Joffrey’s Coffee (with or without Tap 357 Canadian Maple Rye Whisky), a Regional Icewine and a Regional Red Wine, and a Beer Flight featuring 81Bay Brewing Co. Peanut Butter Banana Porter, Playalinda Brewing Co. Maple Cookie Blonde Ale, and Collective Arts Coffee Maple Porter. You may also opt to purchase the brews individually. Now it’s time to dig into what’s cookin’ at the Yukon Holiday Kitchen!

Eats

The Seared Salmon is plated with butternut squash purée, maple-bourbon glaze, and fennel-arugula salad. This dish costs $7.25. Last year, while the salmon was nicely tender, it was the butternut squash paired with the maple-bourbon glaze that really stole the show.

This salmon was so light and flavorful without being fishy. Once again, the butternut squash and maple bourbon glaze tied everything together and really made this taste like a fall-forward dish. The fennel-arugula salad was bright and peppery and paired well with the richness of the fish.

And we’re thrilled that the Beef Bourguignon with crushed potatoes is back, too! It’s $7. It was among our favorites last year (and years prior, to boot!). It’s a delicious bowl of filling comfort food.

This year was no different. It’s just such a hearty and comforting bowl of goodness. The beef is tender — as are the veggies — and there’s a really delicious, meaty, salty broth that is just divine. The fresh chives on top add a nice burst of flavor that helps cut the richness down.

Finally, Yukon Holiday Kitchen is where you’ll find the Peppermint Pinwheel Cookie this year. It’s eligible for a stamp for those participating in the Holiday Cookie Stroll and costs $3.25.

The peppermint Pinwheel Cookie is one that’s been around for a little while, and for good reason. It’s a solid sugar-style cookie with sprinkles and a peppermint kick. It was a bit on the dry side this year, and reminded us of those sugar cookies you take and bake at home from the grocery store. There was a subtle peppermint flavor but nothing overpowering!

But, there’s more where these came from!

Drinks

First up for sips is the Frozen Joffrey’s Coffee. You can enjoy it as a non-alcoholic beverage for $4.75, or you can do what we did and order it with Tap 357 Canadian Maple Rye Whisky for $12.50. This drink is the perfect mix of coffee-meets-sweet flavors. And the kick of whisky is, quite frankly, terrific!

Hooray for ICEWINE! A pour of Regional Icewine is $14.50. This was a good glass of dessert wine and was definitely a sweet grape flavor that we enjoyed, but for the price, you’re barely getting a shot of wine which is hard to reconcile. If you’re a huge icewine connoisseur, this might be for you!

We are THRILLED to say that the Beer Flight has not changed one bit from last year: it includes 81Bay Brewing Co. Peanut Butter Banana Porter, Playalinda Brewing Co. Maple Cookie Blonde Ale, and Collective Arts Maple Porter for $10.25. (Again, you can purchase each individually, if you prefer.)

The reason we’re so glad it’s back is that this Beer Flight actually earned the distinction of making it to our BEST of the FEST list last year! And if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it…  The Collective Arts Coffee Maple Porter boasts, as you might anticipate, a very bold coffee flavor with an aftertaste reminiscent of espresso.

You can pick up on the maple undertones, as well, but the coffee element is what really shines.

The Playalinda Brewing Co. Maple Cookie Blonde Ale might just be the favorite of the trio. The maple cookie flavor comes through primarily in the aftertaste, but overall the brew is pleasantly smooth and sweet.

Even though the 81Bay Brewing Co. Peanut Butter Banana Porter is our least favorite of the bunch, in our opinion, it’s still enjoyable!

We didn’t pick up on any banana flavor, but the hints of the peanut butter brighten up the brew a bit, and it’s another one that’s very smooth.

OVERALL

Stop by the Yukon Holiday Kitchen if you’re looking for hearty and filling dishes you won’t believe came from a festival booth! The salmon and beef were hits again for us this year, and the peppermint pinwheel cookie is just too darn cute. Just imagine how warm and cozy that beef bourguignon would be on a chilly day!
