We hope you’re hungry because it’s time for another Holiday Kitchen at the 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays!
The 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays has officially begun, and there is a lot to offer. There are plenty of food booths with tasty items, merchandise items to grab (of course), and even concerts to watch. But don’t let it overwhelm you. We’ve got you covered with everything you need to know. And now we’re heading to one spot in particular — the Nochebuena Cocina booth — to give you the FULL scoop! Is it worth a try? Let’s find out!
Menu
Over at the Nochebuena Cocina booth, you’ll find both sweet and savory dishes!
Returning for 2024 is the plant-based Chorizo Tamal, and new for this year is the Pastelón, a sofrito-marinated beef with sweet plantains and olives. You can also get one of the Cookie Stroll cookies here!
Drinks for this year include a non-boozy Ponche Navideño, which is a Christmas punch with apple, pears, guava, oranges, dried hibiscus, brown sugar, tamarind, cinnamon sticks, and cloves served warm, and the new for 2024 Left Hand Brewing Co. Mexican Hot Chocolate Milk Stout.
Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu let’s dive into the food itself!
Eats
First up, we grabbed the returning plant-based Chorizo Tamal with cotija and spicy red chile sauce. You can grab this for $5.50!
Last year, we found this dish to be overpowered by the spicy red chile sauce. This year, the sauce was still spicy, but we enjoyed it with the plant-based chorizo! Both of those aspects of this dish were great. However, the tamal was very dry in kind of a sandy kind of way. We would have loved this more if the tamal would have had a better texture.
Next up is the new Pastelón — a sofrito-marinated beef with sweet plantains and olives. This dish is $5.75.
This dish was good. The plantains were very good, the beef was tasty, and we loved the olives. Overall, though, just like this booth in general, it was good but not great. We liked that it came in a little dish, which made it easier and fun to eat, and the cheese on top was yummy. But overall, it’s kind of just ok.
And for dessert, you can add to your Cookie Stroll collection with the returning Cinnamon-spiced Chocolate Crinkle Cookie for $3.25.
This cookie was very good! You can taste the chocolate far more than the cinnamon, so if you’re looking for a cinnamon cookie, this isn’t really it. It’s very soft, chewy, and very delicious.
Drinks
Of the two drinks on the menu this year, we checked out the festive Ponche Navideño – a Christmas punch with apple, pears, guava, oranges, dried hibiscus, brown sugar, tamarind, cinnamon sticks, and cloves. This drink costs $4.00
This was absolutely delicious! It’s very fruity and tastes a lot like sangria without the alcohol. It’s served warm, and it will warm you up nicely, which we love for cooler days. The cinnamon, brown sugar, and fruit all went together SO well. This was our favorite item at this booth!
New for 2024, there is also a holiday stout — the Left Hand Brewing Co. Mexican Hot Chocolate Milk Stout. We didn’t order this, but if you’re a stout fan, you might want to check it out! You can get a 6 oz. pour for $5.75 or a 12 oz. pour for $9.75
OVERALL
We would absolutely come back to grab the cookie and the Ponche Navideño at this booth. Other than those two things, it’s ok, but we were hoping for better. But if you’re looking for a yummy, warm holiday drink, this needs to be your stop!
That’s it for this booth, but there’s a LOT more where that came from!
