The time has come!
Disney has shared that DinoLand, U.S.A. will be closing for good in Animal Kingdom to make room for the new Tropical Americas Land — Pueblo Esperanza. The first round of closures was announced for January 12, 2025, including TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures. When Disney first confirmed that DinoLand would be closing, they shared that there was still time to “get that dino” on Dinosaur, but we didn’t know just how much time that meant. Well, now we have a clue.
Disney has officially announced that “2025 is your year to visit before it goes extinct!” So, if you want to ride Dinosaur at least one more time before it’s gone for good, make sure you plan a trip to Animal Kingdom in the coming year, 2025.
The ride takes you on a wild chase back in time to find the Iguanadon the paleontologists are looking for, but you get caught in the meteor shower that made dinosaurs extinct! Can you accomplish the mission and make it back to the present in time? Find out on this exciting ride before it goes extinct — “Let’s go get that dino!”
Don’t miss out on your last chance to ride this popular attraction. When Pueblo Esperanza opens, there will be three new rides, including an Encanto ride, an Indiana Jones ride, and a carousel!

What would be the timeline for the new Indiana Jones ride, we are planning our trip Jan. 2026

The entire Dinosaur experience started out good but Disney never improved it past the carnival rides. A walk thru for younger adults would have been great, a river boat experience like Universal. Disney should have blown the top off of the Dinosaur experience, but they let it linger and die. Sad…a lost opportunity for Disney.

I am sorry to see this ride go. My first ride on it was back when it was “Countdown to Extinction”. Always a run ride, with good thrills and slightly different from a typical roller coaster. Dinosaurs are always cool, but I guess Disney is letting Universal have a monopoly on them with their Jurassic World attractions.

My son and I have always enjoyed this ride. We’ll be sad to see it go, but at least we will get one more opportunity to ride it when we visit Disney World in September.
