Disney giveth and Disney taketh away. And sometimes, Disney giveth again.

Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge is the newest hotel being built near Magic Kingdom, and it’s been a long time coming. Originally, Disney announced a hotel called Reflections: A Lakeside Lodge for this space — and then never talked about it again. But, Lakeshore Lodge is the new hotness that will be opening at Disney World in 2027 and we’ve got a new aerial look at the progress!
Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge will be located between the Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness — right on Bay Lake. It’s slated to open in 2027 and we’ve been keeping an eye on what sort of progress is going on over at the construction site. Disney has said that this brand-new hotel will be “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists.” And, thanks to @bioreconstruct on X/Twitter, we’ve got a new aerial look at some of the progress!

Below you can see the construction site of Lakeshore Lodge in the center, with Fort Wilderness to the left and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Contemporary Resorts over on the right side of the frame. It looks like this hotel will have a pretty large footprint based on what we can currently see!

Here’s a closer view from the opposite side with the former home of Discovery Island in the background. It’s clear that this hotel will have some pretty stellar views of Bay Lake along with Magic Kingdom and the rest of this area of Disney World.

The areas marked with arrows in the photo below point to where construction is actively happening — you can see that these wings are currently in development at Lakeshore Lodge.

Based on the concept art, it looks like Disney will be leaning heavily into the wilderness theming and use of Disney IP (intellectual property) as we can see on either side of the entrance with Bambi, Thumper, and Flower.

While Lakeshore Lodge will be a Disney Vacation Club property, non-DVC Members will still be able to book stays here as well. Disney hasn’t shared too many details on Lakeshore Lodge just yet, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for more updates.

Another DVC resort. We love Disney and the resorts but when nearly all the delux ones are DVC and cater to those who can afford it, it drives regular people to the moderate and inexpensive ones like we don’t deserve to stay at nice places.I know we can book there but Disney is building more Deluxe/DVC resorts than ones regular working class people who have to scrimp and save can stay at. We love AoA but we love Poly even more but can’t stay there all the time or we have to borrow points. We can’t even afford to be DVC members, which we’d love to do. Disney is starting to cater to those who can afford it rather than making it affordable for everyone like Walt wanted.
I would love to see a walking bridge from the new resort to discovery Island. They could do a really fantastic restaurant and other amenities on the island and make use of this wonderful location.
