One of the very first things vacation planners need to determine is the time of year for their travels… and that’s no less true when you’re planning a trip to Walt Disney World Resort! Though at first, you may think a trip to Disney World primarily involves rides and sunshine no matter the season, you may be surprised to find out how much your experience may differ depending on WHEN you go.
From crowd levels to weather to Special Events, and more, we are breaking down Walt Disney World MONTH BY MONTH so you can know what to expect for your vacation any time of year!
Walt Disney World in January
The New Year delivers some of the year’s coolest weather to Central Florida and welcomes EPCOT’s first Festival of the calendar year… and much more!
HERE are the dates to know for January 2025:
- The Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend will take place from January 8-12, 2025!
- New Year, New You! January is Wellness Month and Disney Springs hosts classes and offers discounts at select locations to celebrate.
- Magic Kingdom’s Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be undergoing a lengthy closure starting January 6th, 2025, and won’t open again until 2026. Disney shares that the attraction will reopen “with a little bit of new magic.”
- EPCOT’s Gran Fiesta Tour will close on January 6th for a two-month refurbishment. It is expected to reopen on March 15th, 2025.
- DinoLand, U.S.A. in Animal Kingdom will begin a phased closure starting January 13th, 2025. The land is closing to make way for a new land themed to the Tropical Americas, Pueblo Esperanza. For the first phase, Disney announced that the last day for TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures at Animal Kingdom is January 12th, 2025.
- Magic Kingdom’s Astro Orbitor will be undergoing a lengthy closure starting January 13th, 2025, and won’t open again until the Summer of 2025.
- Magic Kingdom’s The Hall of Presidents will close on January 20th to be updated; A reopening date is not yet known.
- The EPCOT International Festival of the Arts kicks off the Festival year in EPCOT! The 2025 dates are January 17th, 2025 through February 24th, 2025.
- The Disney on Broadway Concert Series comes back throughout the Festival of the Arts.
- Heads up, vacation planners: Magic Kingdom will close EARLY (at 4:30PM) on January 30th, 2025.

Walt Disney World in February
February boasts some of the year’s best weather in Florida, plenty of sweet treats to celebrate your Valentine, and more.

- ONGOING: The EPCOT International Festival of the Arts kicks off the Festival year in EPCOT! The 2025 dates are January 17th, 2025 through February 24th, 2025.
- ONGOING: The Disney on Broadway Concert Series comes back throughout the Festival of the Arts.
- February is Black History Month and it’s time to “Celebrate Soulfully!”
- Be on the lookout for sweet treats for your Valentine, Galentine, or to treat yourself for Valentine’s Day around the Resort!
- The runDisney Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend is scheduled for February 20-24, 2025!

Walt Disney World in March
March delivers sure signs of SPRING to Disney World, from Spring Break crowds to the first full month of EPCOT’s Flower and Garden Festival and beyond.

- The EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival will run from March 5th through June 2nd, 2025!
- Looking for the BEST way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day (March 17th) in Disney World? Raglan Road in Disney Springs hosts the Mighty St. Patrick’s Festival ever year. According to Raglan Road, this is “the most authentic Irish festival in America.”
- And, of course, lots of snacks will be wearin’ GREEN for St. Patrick’s Day in March, too!

Walt Disney World in April

- ONGOING: The EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival will run from March 5th through June 2nd, 2025!
- The 2025 runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend will take place from April 3-6, 2025!
- Easter Sunday falls on April 20th, 2025. You are bound to find plenty of themed treats for the occasion during the month, and a special PARADE in Magic Kingdom on Easter Weekend!

Walt Disney World in May
Those famous “May Flowers” are still on display for the ongoing EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival. And, of course, Memorial Day Weekend ushers in the unofficial start of SUMMER!

Walt Disney World in June
Summer break is ON in June in Walt Disney World! While you can expect rainstorms picking up for the summer season, you can also often anticipate extended hours in the parks to accommodate the increased crowd levels.

Celebrate Independence Day — and more — in Walt Disney World in July!
Important dates and happenings to know for July 2025 include the following:
- July typically delivers the annual Flavors of Florida event to Disney Springs! In 2024, it ran from July 1st – August 11th. Stay tuned for 2025 dates!
- July 4th is Independence Day in the United States!
- Magic Kingdom typically presents 4th of July fireworks — “Disney’s Celebrate America! – A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” on July 3rd AND 4th. Stay tuned for 2025 confirmation!
- “Heartbeat of Freedom” is the special fireworks finale in EPCOT typically presented on July 4th. Stay tuned for 2025 confirmation!
- EPCOT also often celebrates the 4th of July with some VERY special character appearances ONLY on that date!

Walt Disney World in August
Surprise! August heralds in the beginning of AUTUMN to Walt Disney World (albeit, a little early 😉 ) with the arrival of fall decorations on Magic Kingdom’s Main Street, U.S.A. in preparation for the park’s Halloween celebrations!
Important dates and happenings to know for August 2025 include the following:
- From August 29th through 31st, Disney World’s Coronado Springs Resort will host Destination D23: Disney’s BIGGEST Fan Event of the Year!
- July typically delivers the annual Flavors of Florida event to Disney Springs! In 2024, it ran from July 1st – August 11th. Stay tuned for 2025 dates!
- Mickey’s Not-so-Scary Halloween Party takes place on select nights from early August through October 31st. Stay tuned for 2025 dates!

BOO! Happy Halloween, my friends… It’s October in Walt Disney World! There are MANY more treats than tricks (like more Festival fun, for instance) to know about when it comes to an October trip.

Walt Disney World in November

- The EPCOT Food and Wine Festival ran from August 29th through November 23rd, 2024. Stay tuned for 2025 dates!
- Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a seasonal Magic Kingdom event requiring a separate ticket for entry. The Party is held on select nights from early November through late December 20th. Stay tuned for 2025 dates!
- Thursday, November 27th is Thanksgiving Day in 2025.
- The Holiday Season — which kicks off in November — brings TONS of Holiday TREATS to the whole Resort!
- The EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays traditionally begins the day after Thanksgiving and runs through December 30th. Stay tuned for confirmation of the 2025 dates!
- The Candlelight Processional is a beloved tradition during the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays and runs for the duration of the event.

Walt Disney World in December
It’s called “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” around the globe… and that’s no less true of Walt Disney World in December! “Oh, what fun it is…”
Important dates and happenings to know for December 2025 include the following:
- ONGOING: The Holiday Season continues through December, bringing with it stunning decorations, special events, an entire Holiday FESTIVAL, and — of course! — the best of the SEASON’S EATINGS (that means holiday SNACKS!) to celebrate The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!
- The EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays traditionally begins the day after Thanksgiving and runs through December 30th. Stay tuned for confirmation of the 2025 dates!
- The Candlelight Processional is a beloved tradition during the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays and runs for the duration of the event.

- Significant dates for the 2025 Holiday Season include:
- December 14th – December 22nd — Hanukkah
- December 24th — Christmas Eve
- December 25th — Christmas Day
- December 26th — Kwanzaa starts
- December 31st — New Year’s Eve
