Hurricane Ian complicated things for a few days — shutting down the Disney World theme parks and causing a phased reopening, plus we’ve gotten huge news about returning offerings and EPCOT’s International Festival of the Holidays. After a stressful few days, you could probably use a little mental escape (we know the feeling). Tropical Storm Ian
Disney World closed its theme parks on September 28th and 29th, various special events were canceled, some hotels were closed, and even the airport has adjusted its operations due to the storm. Orlando International Airport
Disney World, SeaWorld, and Universal have all closed for a short period of time, school closures have been announced, and other adjustments have been made. When it comes to travel, the Orlando International Airport announced that it would be closed starting September 28th and now we have an update.

Figment, the purple dragon who is the star of EPCOT’s Journey Into Imagination with Figment attraction, has quite the fan following. He’s become the mascot, in a way, of many of EPCOT’s festivals, a Figment meet-and-greet is coming back to EPCOT in the future, there was an entire Figment popcorn bucket fiasco, and we’ve seen all kinds of Figment items released in the past. But now we have HUGE news for Figment fans.
Over the past few days, we’ve seen Hurricane Ian strengthen to a massive storm and get closer and closer to Florida.

For over 50 years, Disney World’s land has all been subject to the control of a special district called the Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID).
Welcome to Disney World
This district has essentially allowed Disney to act as its own county in many ways, giving it huge amounts of control over decisions regarding the land on which it operates in Florida. It also provided taxing authority and other powers to Disney. But, in 2022, a law was passed by the Florida legislature (and signed by the Florida governor) that will DISSOLVE the RCID by June of 2023, unless a new agreement is reached. The clock is ticking and 2023 is rapidly approaching, so what’s the status of the RCID right now? Here’s what we know.

This year, the Festival will feature lots of food booths (we’ve got the FULL list of booths already!), entertainment, and much more. But just what food dishes will specifically be offered at the booths? Well, Disney has NOT released full menu details just yet, but they have let out a few secrets and we’ve compiled them for you!
