Happy (almost!) Chinese New Year!
The “Year of the Monkey” begins on February 8th, and Nine Dragons Restaurant in Epcot’s China Pavilion will celebrate with special menu items for nearly the whole year. From February 8, 2016 through January 27 of next year, guests at Nine Dragons will find a new prix-fixe option available for lunch as well as additional items on the regular menu.
For lunch, the prix-fixe special will include three courses for $17.98. Begin your meal with spring rolls or pot stickers, then choose from three entrees for the main course: Happily Family (sliced chicken breast, beef and shrimp stir fry), Moo Goo Gai Pan featuring stir-fried chicken breast with mushrooms and snow peas, and General Tso’s Chicken Buns Lunch Box: three steamed buns (basically, these are Chinese tacos) and hot-and-sour soup. For dessert, try either strawberry-red bean or ginger-caramel ice cream.
Three steamed buns will also be featured on the regular menu for the year-long celebration: Braised Pork Belly with chili aioli, Sweet-and-Sour Batter-fried Fish with a pork floss topping, and General Tso’s Chicken buns (also batter-fried). [Read more…]

Many guests visiting the Disney Springs Marketplace in Disney World or Downtown Disney in Disneyland often end up at Earl of Sandwich for a quick bite.
Thanks to reasonable prices, tasty food, and a fairly large variety of options, it’s a popular spot on both coasts. It’s typically fairly easy for just about everyone in a group to find something they’d enjoy from the menu of sandwiches, salads, and soups.
Though it may be hard to stray from favorites like the Holiday Sandwich, guests may be interested to learn that those options have expanded even further with some selections on Earl’s new Low-Cal Menu, also dubbed the “Skinny Earl” menu, featuring dishes that are under 400 calories.
Choices include the BBQ Chicken Flatbread featuring grilled chicken, bacon, cheddar, red onions and BBQ sauce on a lavash flatbread (360 calories), and the Quinoa Chicken Salad which serves up field greens and arugula topped with grilled chicken, feta, quinoa, red onions, fresh strawberries, Mandarin oranges, olive oil and Balsamic vinaigrette (290 Calories). Finally, the Turkey Wrap includes turkey, cheddar, romaine, Roma tomato, and light mayo in a whole wheat wrap (370 Calories).
Great news for folks looking to lighten things up a bit while still enjoying all the flavors at Earl’s! [Read more…]

Like many of you, we here at the DFB are pretty big fans of the souvenir popcorn buckets that pop up all around Disney World and Disneyland, often commemorating classic or even new attractions (like the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train bucket) or promoting the latest Disney film (such as the Cinderella Coach bucket which made an appearance when the live-action Cinderella film was released).
Disney just provided a glimpse of a new souvenir popcorn bucket on the way “later this year” to Disney’s Animal Kingdom: the Light-Up Lotus Popcorn Bucket. This unique bucket will light up, turning it into a luminary.
Though no release date was given for the new bucket, it certainly seems as though it is made to complement the upcoming Rivers of Light evening spectacular, slated to debut this spring. After all, we know that lanterns will play a huge part in the show, and some of the concept art for the spectacular features lotus blossoms as a major centerpiece element. [Read more…]

When The Ganachery – Disney’s own specialty chocolate shop – opened nearly one month ago in Disney Springs, it was impossible not to notice that this little chocolate boutique had a unique vibe all its own. (Take a full tour of the spot here!)
With specially-trained Cast Members (Chocolatiers) serving sixteen unique flavors of ganache, it’s clear that The Ganachery aims to offer a higher-end experience that isn’t replicated in other sweet stops around Disney World. [Read more…]
Calling all artists… who also love cocktails! 🙂
On Saturday, January 23, 2016, from 12:00 – 3:00 pm, Wolfgang Puck Café in Disney Springs is hosting the Orlando branch of Wine & Canvas: a company that offers painting lessons within a party setting at bars and restaurants.
Aspiring painters attending the event at Wolfgang Puck Café will work on a piece entitled “Moon Sail,” and the price per seat to attend is $25.00.
According the to the Wine & Canvas website, upon your arrival “All of your supplies are waiting to create your masterpiece, including an apron to keep your clothes clean. Our talented local artists will instruct the featured artwork step-by-step while you relax, sip and paint along!”
By the way, though the company’s tagline is “The Painting Class with Cocktails,” consuming alcohol is by no means a requirement ;). Though guests are welcome to purchase cocktails off the Wolfgang Puck Cafe menu (not included within the admission fee for the event), anyone looking to try their hand at painting can join in, even if your beverage of choice is non-alcoholic. That said, Wine & Canvas is an adults-only event. [Read more…]

Are you following Raglan Road on Twitter (@RaglanRoadPub)?
Here’s the deal: I started following along to receive timely info about this fan-favorite Irish pub in Disney Springs. Thanks to Paul (one of the three co-owners of Raglan Road), the pub’s Twitter account is a great place to find the scoop on all things Raglan.
But there’s a bit more to it than that.
Instead of reading like a commercial, Paul prefers that the stream reads more like a conversation with the pub. But regardless of who you’re supposed to be talking to in 140 characters or less, this twitter feed is pretty freaking entertaining.
Of course, sometimes it just makes me hungry.
Or thirsty.
But more often than not… it just makes me laugh.
(Of course, it seems like there’s a bit of pressure to make that happen 😉 .)
And it always has some “food” for thought.
Or just take in some good ol’ Irish wisdom.
Check it out — I’ve even learned some totally new ways to do math…
… along with friendly some Public Service Announcements.
So, if you need a quick Irish vacation and can’t swing directly to Raglan Road or Ireland itself, follow along on Twitter…
It may provide just the mini-getaway you’re looking for!
Do you follow the social media accounts of any Disney restaurants? If so, which ones? Please let us know with a comment!
