UPDATED June 17, 2024
Waltzing its way into Disney World, the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along made its debut in EPCOT’s France Pavilion on January 17th, 2020.
The Sing-Along is presented in the pavilion’s Palais du Cinema, and shares screen time with the pavilion’s long-running film, Impressions de France.
The Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along typically runs all day through 6:30PM, while Impressions de France plays in the evenings; however, you can confirm the showtimes on the My Disney Experience app to be certain when you visit.
Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along
While we all know and love the “Tale as Old as Time,” there is a fun twist to the sing-along film (SPOILERS BELOW!).
You see, it’s explained that LeFou (Gaston’s sidekick) was actually the one behind getting Belle and the Beast together. As it turns out (according to the Sing-Along story), LeFou orchestrated sending Belle’s father, Maurice, to the Beast’s castle. This ensured that that Belle would go to save her father, and the rest is… well, a Tale as Old as Time.
A few new scenes of LeFou have been added to the story, each one crafted by the original animators of the film with the original actor of the character, Jessi Corti, lending his voice to the role again. Guests can also look forward to hearing Angela Lansbury as Mrs. Potts once again, interspersing new dialogue with the beloved classic music from the original film.
Five songs from the 1991 animated version of Beauty and the Beast are featured with lyrics presented on the screen so audience members can join in singing along… but, of course! Songs include Be Our Guest, Gaston, Something There, and more.
Tale As Old As Time: French Storytelling on Stage and Screen
As guests wait in the theater for the next showtime, they can enjoy an exhibit: Tale As Old As Time: French Storytelling on Stage and Screen.
The gallery showcases “a collection of costumes, music, artwork, and more” while highlighting “French literature in cinema, theater, ballet, and opera.”
The exhibit hall presents six different cases with props, costumes, and paraphernalia from eleven classic French stories. You may be surprised to recognize items in the Beauty and the Beast display which holds props and a costume from the live-action remake of the classic Disney film.
You can see even more details of this beautiful exhibit here to familiarize yourself before your visit!
Impressions de France
Guests who have long enjoyed Impressions de France, the long-running film shown in the France pavilion, will be glad to know that it is still shown in the evenings. (The Sing-Along is shown throughout the day.)
