Get ’em Before They’re Gone! Ice Cream Nachos at Disneyland’s Golden Horseshoe

Have a hankerin’ for some Ice Cream Nachos?!?

Of course you do! I mean, really… who doesn’t? But where can a Disneyland guest score some, since they’re not showing up on any menus these days? Well, just like days of yore, you CAN still grab them — at least for now — at The Golden Horseshoe.

You see, all the components of the ice cream nachos are still in the house: mint chocolate chip, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream along with hot fudge, strawberry sauce, chocolate chips, whipped cream and cherries served together on a bed of waffle “chips”… all courtesy of the three Waffle Cup Sundaes that remain on the everyday menu. News: Disneyland’s River Belle Terrace Now Accepting Advance Dining Reservations

In late November it was announced that a big change was coming to River Belle Terrace, a Disneyland dining favorite.

February 1st was the last day River Belle Terrace operated as a Counter Service location. When it reopens on February 10th, it will be a Table Service restaurant. Additionally, this beloved breakfast location will serve only lunch and dinner moving forward. [Read more…]

Dining in Disneyland Review: The New Cove Bar Expansion in Disney California Adventure

Disney California Adventure has removed the Donald Duck meet and greet gazebo on Paradise Pier for a very good reason; Cove Bar expansion! The new seating is adjacent to the existing bar. (If you are a Donald fan, don’t fret… Donald has been moved over to Buena Vista Street and he now has Daisy there as his companion.)

I’m sure your first thought is, “Awesome, more seats, less wait!” But alas, this is far from the truth. I recently when to check out the expansion and some new menu items. It was a Friday just before noon and we still waited 45 minutes for a party of 2. Personally I think the Cove Bar is worth the wait, but I also think that if they filled the whole pier with Cove Bar seating, there would still be a long wait. It’s THAT good. You can see that others agree with me. This is the line we waited in.

News: Light-Up Lotus Popcorn Bucket Coming to Animal Kingdom and Updated Anniversary Buckets in Disneyland

Like many of you, we here at the DFB are pretty big fans of the souvenir popcorn buckets that pop up all around Disney World and Disneyland, often commemorating classic or even new attractions (like the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train bucket) or promoting the latest Disney film (such as the Cinderella Coach bucket which made an appearance when the live-action Cinderella film was released).

Disney just provided a glimpse of a new souvenir popcorn bucket on the way “later this year” to Disney’s Animal Kingdom: the Light-Up Lotus Popcorn Bucket. This unique bucket will light up, turning it into a luminary.

Though no release date was given for the new bucket, it certainly seems as though it is made to complement the upcoming Rivers of Light evening spectacular, slated to debut this spring. After all, we know that lanterns will play a huge part in the show, and some of the concept art for the spectacular features lotus blossoms as a major centerpiece element. [Read more…]

Dining in Disneyland: Gourmet Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookie Treats

The Disneyland Resort changes their gourmet treats monthly. The gourmet treat trio usually includes a Marshmallow Wand, a Caramel Apple, and a Mickey Crispy Treat. Sometimes there is a bonus item like a packaged chocolate bark! January’s flavor of the month is Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookie and it’s amazing.

My take home project included the Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookie Marshmallow Wand, a Mickey Crispy, and the Chocolate Bark. Let’s start with my very favorite of the three: the Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookie Bark. This stuff is 100% addicting. News: Afternoon Tea Packages Coming to Steakhouse 55 in the Disneyland Hotel

If you are hoping to add a special dining experience to your next trip to the Disneyland Resort, the new Afternoon Tea coming to Steakhouse 55 in the Disneyland Hotel may be just the thing. Beginning January 22nd, Steakhouse 55 will host mid-day tea experiences from Noon to 3 p.m.
