We’re back! For those of you who missed listening to the DFB Podcasts, we are are happy to announce the 22nd episode of the DFB Podcast!

We’ve been MIA for awhile, but we are so excited to be back in action! You’ll have to listen to this edition to hear about our whereabouts, but we are actively working on new ways to make sure we can record the podcast more often.

What’s It About?

There have been some major Disney announcements lately (Star Wars, anyone?) along with some 2015 Epcot Food and Wine news, so we had plenty to cover!

In the 22nd episode AJ and Brad apologize for being bad podcast friends, and cover the recent announcements of Skipper Canteen, Star Wars Land(s), and our favorite Food and Wine activities.

Review: Redd Rockett’s Pizza Port in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland

So, you’re up in space (I know — “What else is new,” right?) and suddenly you have a hankerin’ for a slice of pizza. Before space pilot Redd Rockett came along, your mission would have been… well, impossible.

But not anymore, thanks to Redd Rockett’s Pizza Port in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland!

You see, the backstory for Pizza Port revolves around the difficulty experienced by astronauts of finding a “decent pizza” in space (#SpaceProblems — you know how it goes). That is, until Redd Rockett decided to solve that problem once and for all by setting up a pizza port in the sector. Its success was so great that Redd opened up a second location right here on Earth, in Tomorrowland, located near Space Mountain. [Read more…]

News! Disneyland Jungle Cruise Sunrise Safari Breakfast Booking NOW!

As though Jungle Cruise Skippers aren’t busy enough preparing the upcoming Skipper Canteen at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom… they’ll also be helping Disneylanders start their day at the newly announced Jungle Cruise Sunrise Safari Breakfast!

Dining in Disneyland: Vintage Disneyland Menus from the D23 Expo Archives

As a Disney fan (OK… borderline maniac Disney freak) and a D23 member, I consider the D23 Expo a must-attend event.  In addition to the informative exhibits, amazing shopping, creative costumes, and fabulous people watching, I always look forward to the D23 Archives exhibit.

Seeing original pieces of Disneyland history up close and personal is such a treat.  This year’s archives exhibit was so wonderfully done.  I spent most of my visit drooling over the display of photos, menus and other original paraphernalia from the restaurants and snack spots of Disneyland’s first years.

Let’s go back in time and take look! (I apologize in advance for some of the photos and shadows. The display area was very dark and the photos overlapped each at other causing some shadowing.)

Let’s start with the Tahitian Terrace which was located behind the Tiki Room in Adventureland.  It opened in 1962 and closed in 1993.  The dinner theater offered guests food and entertainment inspired by the French Polynesian Islands.

I don’t get to this corner of Disneyland nearly as much as I should. It’s waaaaaaaaay in the back corner — head into Fantasyland and hang a left.

But since a very similar restaurant exists in Walt Disney World — Pinocchio Village Haus in Fantasyland — I usually find myself skipping THIS Village Haus in lieu of one of my favorite spots, like Cafe Orleans. [Read more…]

… official news announcing the new Skipper Canteen Jungle Cruise restaurant coming to Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland wasn’t enough for ya?

Star Wars Lands — PLUS CANTINAS! — Coming to Disney World and Disneyland!

Well, then, let’s see if THIS does the trick… A REAL, TRUE STAR WARS CANTINA will be coming to both Disney World AND Disneyland as part of the Star Wars-themed Lands announced for BOTH coasts at the D23 Expo! We’ve been dreaming about this for years!

Disneyland and Hollywood Studios will be the homes for each 14-acre expansion “where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life.” According to Bob Iger, “We are creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single themed land expansion ever.
