Tucked into one of Disney World’s most iconic resort hotels — The Grand Floridian Resort and Spa — Gasparilla Grill is one of the only restaurants open 24 hours in Walt Disney World!

Atmosphere

Gasparilla Grill is the the counter service location at the Grand Floridian and is sandwiched between the Grand Floridian Cafe and the Grand Floridian Kids’ Club.

It offers both hot and cold (grab-and-go) items as well as bakery items and soft-serve ice cream.

Reader Favorites: Disney Grab-and-Go Breakfast Items

It’s apparently a breakfast-y week here on the Disney Food Blog, so here’s another fun, nourishing post about the most important meal of the day! When your main goal is conquering Space Mountain after rope drop or securing FastPasses for Toy Story Mania, a quick breakfast will help get you there before thousands of your fellow vacationers!

The most mentioned breakfast items were cinnamon rolls, Mickey waffles, and muffins (mostly blueberry)! Disney World Bread Pudding Poll

Bread pudding is a ubiquitous dessert in Disney World. You can find versions of it on nearly every buffet restaurant menu (Boma’s and Crystal Palace’s are well-loved!), a counter-service version exists at the Main Street Bakery, savory versions have been found at Le Cellier and Cinderella’s Royal Table, and you could claim that Rose and Crown’s Sticky Toffee Pudding fits the bill.

But there are some spectacularly sweet, official bread pudding options at three of Disney World’s popular table-service restaurants.

We had a great time sailing on the Disney Dream and doing a thorough Dine Around in January 2011. During that sailing, DFB researched (um, okay, ate) our way through the bountiful offerings on this all-you-can-eat cruise.

Disney’s next cruise ship, the Fantasy, is set to sail its maiden voyage in March of 2012. The 2,500 passenger ship will be identical in size and layout to the Disney Dream, although the two will not be exactly the same. Let’s review the venues for food and beverages on the Fantasy!

Best Places to Eat Outside at Disney World and Disneyland

While the heat can sometimes be overbearing, there are plenty of months during the year when dining outside in Orlando and Anaheim can be quite pleasant!

Readers and Facebook Friends chimed in on the best places to eat OUTSIDE in Disney World and Disneyland via the Disney Food Blog’s Facebook page. The top votes went to Flame Tree Barbecue, Rose & Crown, and Casey’s Corner at Walt Disney World for their outdoor ambiance. The most suggested outdoor locations at Disneyland were Cafe Orleans, Carnation Cafe, and Hungry Bear!

It can get hot in Orlando, but throughout much of the year it can be lovely to dine outside! Here are the restaurants that took the top spots for outdoor dining in Disney World:

Flame Tree Barbecue
The Animal Kingdom’s attention to detail is exemplary, so it’s no surprise that Flame Tree Barbecue was the most mentioned outdoor locale!

The best seats are found near the water overlooking the Discovery River, where a water-side pavilion provides a shady respite. Despite the beauty of this location, Lori W., Heather W., and D.J. R. warned about the “aggressive birds” looking to partake of your counter-service meal.

Celebrate with a Chocolate Cinderella Slipper

There are plenty of ways to celebrate with dining at Walt Disney World. And especially fitting for little princesses, romantic couples, and chocolate-lovers, the Cinderella Slipper Dessert is a decadent way to celebrate your special occasion. This dessert is exceptionally rich, and I suggest ordering one to share!

Celebrate Like Cinderella

Indulge in the chocolate slipper at Cinderella’s Royal Table, the Grand Floridian’s table-service restaurants (Citricos, 1900 Park Fare, Grand Floridian Cafe, Narcoossee’s, Victoria and Albert’s), or during afternoon tea at the Garden View Lounge overlooking the beautiful Grand Floridian courtyard. You may also enjoy it at the Contemporary Resort’s restaurants California Grill and The Wave.

But you’ll need to pre-order this special treat (and lock in an Advance Dining Reservation at the restaurant of your choice!). See below for specific resort/restaurant phone numbers.

For guests dining at Cinderella’s Royal Table in the Magic Kingdom, your slipper special-order will be a white or milk chocolate “glass” slipper filled to the brim (and beyond) with chocolate mousse. A raspberry coulis and fresh berries are artistically added to the plate.

The Wonderful World of Mickey Waffles

are now available at Whispering Canyon Cafe! Also, the Contempo Cafe has begun serving the large Mickey Waffle, while Sleepy Hollow has stopped serving it.

One food item I crave at all places Disney is the Mickey Waffle. A Disney breakfast staple, the Mickey waffle is deliciously thick, made with malted flour for that one-of-a-kind taste, and often served with maple syrup. Of course, you might also get powdered sugar or even fruit topping on yours!!

Mickey waffles are everywhere. At the Whispering Canyon Cafe, they are plentiful — both on the a la carte menu and in the all-you-can eat skillet. Don’t forget to try the chocolate chip version!
