Even with LOTS of reopening announcements for hotels and restaurants, there are many iconic Disney World locations that remain closed with no announced reopening dates. We’ve been keeping an eye out for any sign of more openings, and now there’s movement at an ICONIC location.
Well, that was a LOT of Christmas news that Disney just dropped! We are sure you’ve already started planning your trip to Disney World after reading about everything appearing during the holiday season.

Disney World has been feeling a lot more normal recently, but some of our favorite things are still closed.

We’re still awaiting the opening of Disney’s Port Orleans Resorts and beloved restaurants like Boma at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Of course, we keep a close eye out for signs of restaurants reopening and now a cozy lounge is showing some movement!

We learned today that Disney World will be celebrating the holidays in Magic Kingdom with a new after-hours event, as well as the Christmas Tree Stroll in Disney Springs. We were SO excited to learn that Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion Holiday will be back this year, and today Disney alluded to a possible Disney Halloween in July celebration…with a Nightmare Before Christmas mention?!
Big changes are coming all over Disney World! With several resorts getting refurbishments or overhauls and a ton of new rides like the Tron coaster coming soon, there’s plenty of construction going on at the parks and resorts!

Disney just announced that Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is being replaced with a new holiday after hours event called Disney Very Merriest After Hours. But if you’ve ever been to the Disney World resorts around the holidays, you’ll be VERY excited about the news we have to share.

We’ve got reopening dates for two of the All-Star Resorts and both Port Orleans resorts, and we were just AT the reopening of ‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort (which will reopen soon, too)!

A whole bunch of things have changed since then. Restaurants have reopened, hotels have become available for guests to enjoy again, and fan-favorite shows and experiences have returned. Change is something that has become synonymous with Disney World over the years and more particularly since the COVID-19 pandemic. The changes with FastPasses+, entertainment, and extra magic hours had some people wondering if a trip to Disney World was even worth it anymore.
Mornings can be busy in Magic Kingdom!
Speaking of Extra Magic Hours, in 2021, Disney World replaced the hotel perk with Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours. If you are unfamiliar with Extra Magic Hours, they were first implemented to allow guests staying at a Disney Hotel to either gain early access or stay later in the theme parks. The idea is still the same, but a bit simpler with Early Theme Park Entry allowing guests to enter any of the parks 30 minutes early every day to get a head start.
