A LOT of exciting things are happening over on the West Coast at Disneyland Resort.
Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland
A new reimagined ToonTown just reopened. A new Tiana-themed restaurant is on the way. Tarzan’s Treehouse is becoming Adventureland Treehouse. The DisneylandForward project is moving forward. PLUS Disney CEO Bob Iger announced in February 2023 that a new Avatar project at the resort was in the works. We now have an update on that Avatar project!
You never know what’s going to happen in Disneyland.
Fantasmic! at Disneyland Resort
There is ALWAYS something going on. Sometimes rides get closed for refurbishment. Sometimes entire LANDS get closed to be reimagined. Sometimes, rides just close forever to make way for new ones. However, one of the most surprising things to happen recently was during a performance of Fantasmic! when the Maleficent dragon caught fire. As a result, the show has been closed — but now we have an idea about when it will reopen.
A NEW Disney hotel is on its way and it’ll be opening sooner than you might expect.

Over on the west coast, NEW Disney Vacation Club Villas are opening at the Disneyland Hotel. The new DVC tower will open officially on September 28th, 2023. We’ve already shared a first look at some of the rooms, details about when bookings opened, and more. But now we have another update.

Disneyland Resort has undergone some massive projects lately! Splash Mountain will close soon to make way for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, a restaurant has closed to welcome Tiana’s Place, new Disney Vacation Club villas are being added to the Disneyland Hotel, and San Fransokyo Square is expected to be completed later this year, but one more significant change is starting to gain momentum! As you may already know, Hong Kong Disneyland is in the process of creating the first out of three Frozen-themed lands in Disney Parks around the world: World of Frozen. The land will include a restaurant, multiple merchandise outlets, meet-and-greet experiences, and even a few attractions — including the world’s first Frozen-themed coaster.
