We sure are! (Then again, when aren’t we?!) So our Magic Kingdom stop today is Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe in Frontierland!

Perhaps you were expecting a visit to the Frontierland Churro Cart or the Storybook Pretzel Cart? Fret not, you can still find them there, along with Mickey Pretzels and cold drinks to wash down your snack of choice. But when the menu at Pecos Bill’s underwent a complete change from burgers-and-fries to Mexican fare, Churros suddenly appeared as a dessert option here as well (along with some no-longer-available Sopaipillas).

The take is a bit different, though, at the Tall Tale Inn, so we’re here to have a peek… and a bite or two, of course 😉 .

Review: Territory Coffee Company (Territory Lounge) in Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

These days, lots of Disney World guests make a beeline for the nearest Starbucks on property to get their morning caffeine fix.

Epcot’s Fountain View, Magic Kingdom’s Main Street Bakery, Animal Kingdom’s Creature Comforts, and the Trolley Car Cafe at Hollywood Studios are understandably popular spots — especially in the early morning park hours.

But if you’re someone who stumbles to the coffeemaker first thing in the morning before you can form a complete sentence [sits at computer, points to self] and you happen to have a stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge in your future, you might be interested to learn about Territory Coffee Company.

You may already be familiar with the Territory Lounge in Wilderness Lodge. It’s one of our absolute favorite Disney bars thanks to some really great noshes and cozy atmosphere.

But with a typical opening time of 4:30 pm, this beautiful space sat empty most of the day until last summer, when the Territory Coffee Company opened for what was originally a test run. [Read more…]

Review: Narcoossee’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

It’s been way way WAY too long since I last took in a meal at Narcoossee’s, one of the signature restaurants at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. (With three signature restaurants at that resort, it’s hard to get to all of them on a regular basis! So much rich, wonderful food — SO expensive!)

The restaurant has topped our list of Disney Food News for a couple of brand new offerings lately. You can now enjoy Sunday Waterfront Brunch here. And soon, you’ll be able to take in an evening Wishes Dessert Party from the dock nearby.

But during a recent (extremely quick!) visit to Walt Disney World, I decided it was time to enjoy dinner here once again.

The fairly small restaurant, perched on the edge of the resort where water meets land, boasts stunning views, a relaxed atmosphere, and a seafood-inspired menu. But it tends to be overshadowed by other signature spots, like the nearby California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, or Victoria and Albert’s at the Grand Floridian. And so it largely flies under the radar.

My question is always this: in a resort that has two other signature restaurants, is there room for a third?

If you’re heading to Narcoossee’s, be prepared for a walk. This is that circular building on stilts that juts out into Seven Seas Lagoon next to the dock at Grand Floridian, so it’s far far away from the entrance to the resort (but a quick walk from the boat dock if you’re coming from Magic Kingdom). How can you possibly improve upon a Dole Whip in Disneyland?! We recently heard about a Disneyland Hack that might just make this must-have treat even more desirable, and our Disneyland guru Heather Sievers headed over to investigate!

Yep — Disneylanders in the know are dousing their dole whip with Tajin®!

But this add-on isn’t on the menu. Let me give you a little step by step…

Step 1: After you get into Disneyland, do NOT get your Dole Whip first! Stop by Tropical Imports — home of better-for-you snacks like whole fruit — in Adventureland. (Bonus points for spotting Pluto for the 2016 Egg-stravaganza!).

Guest Review: Club Villain at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Are you ready for some Club Villain Thrills?! DFB welcomes guest author AM Appleby with a review of Club Villain at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Let’s take a look at this Walt Disney World event that has now been extended with dates into March 2016!

What is our fascination with villains? Do they perceive themselves as villainous or simply misunderstood? Whatever your reasons, the four villainous characters at this Club Villain in Disney’s Hollywood Studios are well worth your time!

As soon as they became available last fall, I purchased tickets to the newest Disney villain bash, Club Villain. My seven-year-old daughter and I enjoyed the last villains party at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Villains Unleashed, in August 2014, but Club Villain was a complete departure (it is still a hard ticket event at $129 per person, tax and gratuity included).

The wait time to meet Maleficent at Villains Unleashed was four hours at the start of the party. Needless to say, we didn’t wait for her that evening. I honestly knew nothing about Club Villain when I purchased, I was just excited for another villains event!

Atmosphere

Club Villain takes place in Sunset Showcase, located just behind Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. The venue was indoors, which was lovely on the rainy evening we attended, and included a full buffet dinner and two bars serving wine, beer, and a signature cocktail specially created for each villain. Host Dr. Facilier, and his club manager Kanzo, kept everyone entertained. Music throughout the evening was provided by DJ Thibodeaux, creating a loud and festive Mardi Gras atmosphere. The food was inspired by traditional New Orleans cuisine, and I will tell you now — it was delicious!

The check-in podium was located in the front of the building. We arrived 20 minutes prior to our 7:45PM reservation time (there was one seating time the evening we attended), and we were given our invitation, which included our table number and scheduled times to meet the characters: Cruella de Vil, The Evil Queen, Maleficent, and the Queen of Hearts.

News: Two New Nighttime Parties Coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

After so much waiting, things are finally coming together at Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Mark your calendars for April 22 — Earth Day — for the debut of the new nighttime spectacular: Rivers of Light!! [Editor’s Update: Please note that since the original publishing of this article, Disney has announced that the Rivers of Light spectacular will be delayed, and they will be releasing further information regarding an updated debut date in mid-late May 2016.]

But while we are still awaiting more details about the timeline of other coming attractions, like Avatarland, we have a couple of other things to look forward to in the near future. News: Booking Available for New World of Color Dessert Party in Disney California Adventure

Guests visiting Disney California Adventure with hopes of catching the World of Color evening spectacular now have a chance to reserve a new World of Color Dessert Party. Nightly “sparkling dessert parties” will make their debut at Paradise Pier on March 17th.

Guests will have access to seats at high-top tables from which they’ll try a selection of desserts off of china plates. Options will include a Dulce de Leche-filled cookie, Mickey Coconut Macaroons, and selections of fruit and artisanal cheese, among others. While those 21-and-over will be able to enjoy a glass of sparkling wine, sparkling cider will be available for younger guests. [Read more…]

News: Wishes Dessert Party Debuts at Narcoossee’s in Disney World’s Grand Floridian Resort

A new viewing opportunity to enjoy Magic Kingdom’s Wishes nighttime fireworks spectacular is making its debut at the Grand Floridian’s Narcoossee’s.

Current view-and-dine parties for Wishes include the Wishes Fireworks Dessert Party at Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland Terrace, and Ferrytale Wishes: A Fireworks Dessert Cruise. Narcoossee’s is joining the line up by hosting a new Wishes Dessert Party at the Grand Floridian back dock (so during party time, Advance Dining Reservations for Narcoossee’s standard dinner hours of 5:30 to 10:00 pm remain available).

Taking place every Friday — currently available through the month of March — the all-inclusive price of $62.43 per person will include a variety of signature desserts and a selection of wine and cocktails, along with beer, coffee, or tea. The party will begin 30 minutes prior to the evening’s showing of Wishes.

Review: Monsieur Paul in Epcot’s France Pavilion

It’s been a while since we’ve ventured up the beautiful staircase to dine at Monsieur Paul.

Sure, we’ve taken in a few special events lately. We had an amazing time at the The Parisian Afternoon event during the Epcot Food and Wine Festival recently. But that event takes place in the afternoon (obviously). And there’s something extra special about arriving at this signature restaurant to enjoy a leisurely dinner in the evening.

Let’s take a look at all that experienced on our recent visit.

Atmosphere

If you haven’t dined at Monsieur Paul before (or its predecessor, Bistro de Paris), then part of the fun will be finding it. That’s a little easier these days than it used to be, thanks to this sign that’s stationed right on the Promenade.

Just hang a right just before you arrive at the entrance to Les Chefs de France (the France Pavilion’s table service spot — here’s our recent review), and head back through the Pavilion. For those of you who love delicious food as much as beautiful gardens and flowers, you’re in for a treat, as the 2016 Epcot Flower and Garden Festival is officially underway!

We spent the day Dining and Drinking Around the World to bring you pictures of all the new eats and drinks! We were pleased with so many of the dishes once more. Epcot continues to bring their “A” game in terms of both creativity and portion sizes.

We also really enjoyed some fantastic drinks. And the food and beverage team continue to scour the world to bring some really unique beverages for us to try.

In addition, we enjoyed some really refreshing non-alcoholic sips as well — the perfect refreshment as we took in the myriad of topiaries, exhibits and flower displays.
