Disney’s newest restaurant and hotel are now open, we’ve got even MORE ride closures and refurbishments to update you on, and a very popular character is coming to Disney Parks and Disney Cruise Line next year.
January is almost here, and while we’re excited, we also have no idea how the year passed so quickly.
Cinderella Castle
A lot is happening in Disney World in 2025, and it’s our job to make sure you feel prepared for your upcoming trips! This means making sure you know about all the new attractions on the way, what’s changing, what are the best and worst times to go, and everything in between. If you’re heading to Disney World in January, we KNOW some of you may be gearing up to make this mistake, and but not anymore after reading this post!
Sometimes, things don’t always go as planned in Disney World.
Monorail
For example, sometimes your favorite ride might be closed, either for refurbishment or a temporary closure due to a technical issue. Sometimes the unpredictable Florida weather can mean rain that comes out of nowhere and closes down all the outdoor rides. Sometimes it’s so hot that your ice cream melts before you can eat it. Well, sometimes the problem is with Disney World’s transportation system, including the Monorail. We’re going to tell you how to keep a Monorail closure from derailing your day.
Okay, we’re starting to get a little intimidated by how close 2025 is getting.
Hollywood Studios
We’re just a few short weeks away from the new year starting, and we already know that a LOT is happening in Disney World right at the start of the new year. With loads of construction and changes on the way for the resort, the new year will be kicking off with a bang as those changes start to take place. If you’re planning to visit Disney World in January, there are a total of SIX ride closures you need to know about!
Quite a few attractions will be CLOSING in Disney World in 2025.
Magic Kingdom
Some attractions will be closing permanently to make way for other offerings, like Tom Sawyer Island, Liberty Square Riverboat, and TriceraTop Spin. But outside of the permanent closures, there will also be a few attractions that close for refurbishment…and now one has been added to the list!
Big things are happening at Magic Kingdom and, maybe most importantly, these changes are going to affect our wardrobe!

At D23 2024: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney FINALLY confirmed a new Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom. With a new land comes new outfit options! Fortunately, Amazon has us covered with a new shirt that will be the PERFECT thing to wear as we welcome the Disney Villains to “The Most Magical Place On Earth”!
As people who go to Disney World a lot, we should be used to change by now. Things are always changing in the parks, and that’s how Walt wanted it. Yet, sometimes those changes just HURT.
Columbia Harbour House
For example, we’re still wrapping our head around losing Muppets Courtyard to make way for a new Monsters, Inc. land in Hollywood Studios, although the Muppets will be moving over to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. We’re also feeling a little off about some of the other parks changes that will see beloved attractions disappear. When it comes to food, though, we’ve got a lot of changes we’re still salty about (the Sleepy Hollow Waffle situation, for example). Well, we’ve spotted another food change in Disney World and we’ve got questions.
Disney World is constantly loaded with various construction projects!

When we visit the parks, we see everything from bathrooms to rides to restaurants under construction, usually getting small refurbishments and updates. Sometimes, we can even tell before the project starts, thanks to the permits that Disney files with the government. And now, we’ve got some info about the next spot to get a refurb!
January 6th is shaping up to be quite a day at Disney World.
Magic Kingdom
As we’ve said many times in the past, refurbishments are a fact of life at Disney World. In fact, you’d be hard-pressed to find a single day when every ride and attraction across the report is up and running without a single one closed for some kind of maintenance. Given the complex nature of many of these attractions and their necessary safety requirements, this is understandable. However, even when keeping that in mind, the sixth day of 2025 is setting up to be a doozie.
